Need more energy

8 weeks out from my fitness competition which means menu is slowly starting to shrink. I work as a scaffolder work 10 hr 14/7 shifts and is a all physical job meaning. I've found that the amount of food I'm wright just isn't enough to make up for all the energy I'm burning. Trying to find some ways to get good healthy add ins. Got the ok from my trainer for quest bars but need one more thing but Dunno what

    Eat a balanced diet with a range of foods, cut back on the processed stuff (like the quest bar you mentioned), and
    you'll not only save money but nourish your body better.
    Unless your trainer has some certification for nutrition, I'd be very wary of taking her/his advice in that area.
    Check everything you're told with a reputable source.

    Here's a calculator from the Baylor College of Medicine which will tell you not only your maintenance calories for
    any weight & activity level, but how many servings of the food groups you should be eating.

    Healthy food which will help build muscle would be things high in protein: beef, pork, fish, beans, nuts, quinoa
    Healthy food which will give you more calories would be high in fat: nuts, oil, fatty fish, avocado
