Too much protein and weight???

This is only my first day tracking any kind of food diary but I noticed that I was -15 on my protein. Could this be a big reason why I have gained weight? I always thought I needed more protein. I don't know anything about nutrition
sorry if its a dumb question. I'm 20 with a three year old and a four month old and have gained a sad 100 lbs. Thanks for the help

Keep on tracking everything you eat. And try to measure with a scale and measuring cups. And make sure you also track condiments and sauces and dressings. And things you drink. Accurately. And when you look back at it all I am sure you are going to be surprised by your discoveries!
MFP's recommendations are totally within 'healthy living' guidelines. Many people actually increase their protein and fat intakes above what MFP recommends in order to feel fuller and have an easier time staying within their caloric goals.
As I am sure 100's of people will tell you, you did not increase your weight because of protein. You increased it because you've been eating more calories than you've been spending : - )
And during the first few weeks I would put WAY less emphasis on my exact macros and much more emphasis on staying within my caloric goals.
Once you've had a string of successes then you can look back at your logs and at your macros and start tinkering with things.0 -

It's very unlikely. If you have to go a little bit over on anything, protein is the place to do it.
Tracking will teach you a lot about nutrition. Just keep tracking and try to get somewhat close to your goals for the first couple of weeks. It's not about perfection...progress and moving in the right direction is where you want to put your focus.0 -
No. Excess protein will not make you gain weight, excess calories will.
Concentrate on your calories for now, and when you've got that nailed then you can move onto fiddling with your macros.
FTR I'm usually over my protein and fat goals, it hasn't affected my weight at all.0 -

You have a LOT on your shoulders right now. Just log your calories, cut back where you can, and take good care of your babies.0 -
Look at protein as a minimum
Only focus on your calories until you get the hang of this ...you can look at the macros later on0 -
Lol thank you guys on the bottom it kept saying of every day were like today you would weigh.... And kept going up every time I added something so I was looking and my protein was the only "negative" . I really like this I think its a ah ha moment to see what my day is really like with eating. So I didn't eat all the recommended calories is that a bad thing?0

Well when you add things it is going to go up because you're eating more
If you are below your calories you're going to be losing more than the rate that you chose in 5 weeks. Try not completing your diary until you're done with the day so you only see that once at the very end. You really should be eating as close to your recommended calories as possible. Make sure you are accurately weighing your food though.

Don't take in everything on MFP at first, concentrate on running a deficit and you will start to lose the weight.
