Surpress hunger & losing weight questions

1) What can I do to suppress my appetite? I usually manage to reach my 1500 calories a day goal. Sometimes I'm 100 over but I generally allow it. I have a huge problem with feeling full. Even though I eat 2 huge meals and several smaller (usually a shake) throughout the day. Usually towards the end of the night in craving food. I stop eating around 10pm. Although if I can't handle it I would just eat a banana (assuming I'm below my limit.

As mentioned above. I'm eating 1500 calories a day. My lifestyle would be the lightly active. I'm on the exercise bike for 1 hour every day. I'm a 26 year old male and weigh 210. I'm trying to lose weight but don't know what weigh limit I'm suppose to be at. Let alone at my pace how long it would take to reach it.

Better to eat smaller meals throughout the day. I'm at 1600 and I split my meals to five meals. Also I heard olive oil makes you full faster. I put some in my chicken or fish

    Try eating more.

Seriously, 1500 calories/day is the minimum calorie floor recommended for men trying to lose weight. It's usually for shorter, older and more sedentary men. I don't know your height, but at your age and weight and activity level, it's very unlikely that 1500 calories/day is an appropriate goal for you. Your profile says you only have about 40lbs to lose. Try changing your MFP goals from 2lbs/week to 1.5lbs or 1lb/week and you should get a higher calorie goal -- and feel fuller and more satisfied while you lose at a healthy, sustainable rate.

Also, are you eating back your exercise calories? When you use the exercise bike, log your workouts and eat back at least a portion of those calories. That's how MFP is designed to be used.

If you're super duper hungry at night time you might want to try Intermittent Fasting.

So, you would fast all day, and then have your first meal around 6pm and stop eating around 10pm. So for four hours you have your full calorie allotment and you go to bed full.

I know this method (either 18/6 or 20/4) works really well for people who have problems with satiation while on a calorie deficit.

In addition, since you're a man, and i dont know your height, i would suggest bumping your calories up to roughly 1800. Unless you're obese i dont see a reason to have such a high deficit, especially since you're biking.

    best of luck!

edited to add: I forgot to mention, you should be getting enough protein, fat, fiber, and water as well. This should help with fullness.

Eat more fat and protein perhaps? I find both very satisfying.

Bag the shake (eat your food). Make sure you're getting lots of protein and fats, as it helps keep you sated.

We dont know how tall he is. If he's like 5'8(or shorter) he's 50-ish pounds overweight. Just Sayin- i agree he should be eating more, but if he's short then having a larger deficit isn't as big of a deal.

That doesn't make any sense. Do you mean that if he's short, his deficit isn't as large because his TDEE would be lower?

In any case, at 26 years old and 210lbs, unless he's only 4 feet tall, he shouldn't be targeting 1500 calories.

Eat very slowly. Very slowly. Enjoy each bite. You will feel full faster when you do this.
