When caring for others and you forget you

I am a caregiver by nature, first born tendency, I think. Work has been crazy stressful, my hubby and I are helping a friend's family who is going through a very hard time. And I've gained 15 lbs. Which brings me to a 40 lb goal. Any support, tips, encouraging words are welcomed. I am working ten hour days and then helping our friends and I find myself eating without noticing it. I ate three donuts before I realized it

Hello, I so know how you feel , I work a ton of hours taking care of others and it is very hard to find time for me. I was constantly grabbing food on the go thinking I needed it because i did not know when my next opportunity to eat would be and I just kept climbing the scale, I am trying to make changes daily like eating more protein, eating a big lunch usually keeps me from eating the rest of the day or at least those big dinners , now i just grab a small meal at night if i feel hungry but most days I do not. I find it hard to keep on a good track , last week i had so much sodium I felt like my feet were stumps and oh my did they hurt ughh by Friday at work I was driving and kicking my sneakers off due to the pain, so past 3 days I have watched everything and logged it and I am starting to feel semi better and less bloated. I was also a smoker a yr and a half ago and I find myself wondering how come i can say No I don't need that cigarette but yet I can not say No to a damn cheese burger lol0

Exactly! And I have been stressed so comfort food I tell myself it's ok but I forget the ten other time I said ok. I am always tired lately so even logging my food I'm like ugh. I put on a pair of pants that were SUPER snug and I was like you have got to be kidding! This is the heaviest I have been so it's a mind game too. Part of me is like whatever and the other part is you use to be healthy and fit sure way behind the 8 ball but you can do it. Did I mention my birthday is tomorrow?0

Aww Happy Birthday I have been trying to tell myself remember how you felt last time you ate that .. all bloated and super tired. Sometimes it works so that's a start. Like you i find logging to be time consuming esp on my schedule I know when I used this site last year I planned all my meals on Sunday and left printed out ones in my kitchen so my husband knew what was on the dinner plans but we have both been slacking way to much and now he is over weight which is so odd because he was always so scrawny and I felt like oh my god I cant gain or else people will wonder what he is doing with that two ton tessy. Now it has become a health issue for him due to he is a cardiac pt and has high bp and cholesterol. I think I may have kicked something into gear with him last wk when I found myself bitching while trying to get dressed. I was cursing because I own no jeans and if i did they would not look right because I carry all my fat in my belly just like him and I said we really need to get back on track because just taking vitamins and fish oil for him is not enough for us. So I am hoping we can stick this out but like you know it is very hard esp when you leave home at 6 am and most days do not get in until 8pm...... I did set an alarm/reminder on my cell to remind me to log meals0

Those are basically my hours. So I totally get it. I don't cook because I am exhausted and it's easier to grab something. People tell me, well meaning, wake up earlier and I'm like I already wake up before 5. I can't imagine 4am0

I'm doing small goals like cook three times this week. I heard of mindful eating but not sure how that works or if it will work for me.0

My mornings consist of hard boiled egg whites and hot tea, some grapes to nipple on within the hr lol and maybe a good protein bar, by logging i did notice those special k bars and nature valley things which i love really put my carbs over 50% So I try to go with protein items and fruit, today was chicken salad on crackers since i am really trying to cut my carb intake because that is what seems to make me feel so drained and make my feet swell ...oh and if you need a salt fix I found these Good Health brand veggie stix in the chip isle in your grocery store I absolutely love them !0

OMG! Happens to me all the time. I don't eat on my day off. Lol I am cutting carbs. I did notice that some foods makes me feel like a brick in my stomach so trying to remember that when I crave it.0
