Roux en y VS. The real world

I'm not really sure what I'm looking for from this site and to be honest I've never been the one to ask for help or support expecially from strangers. I've been on a very long journey with a lot of ups and downs and more frustrations than I'd like to ever admit however it's all in the past and from my surgery date of March 4 2015 I decided that I can't let my past affect my future... now that I'm given the opportunity to have one! I've never been one to go on forums or attend support groups but since having my roux en y and dropping weight so quickly there's times where it would be nice to have someone else who just gets it without the need to explain in detail. A little about me....
My names Felicia and I'm 32 with 2 boys and a long standing very active lifestyle. I have asthma, thyroid issues and diabetes. My highest weight that was measured was 350lbs. I got dicked around by several teams of Surgeons, Specialists, and even my own family Dr that I had since I was little little! I'm pleased to say I fired my family Dr and found a new one Dr Brown, whom came just at the right time to diagnose my organs with little left to give and my life in a very serious situation and preparing to die. He found what all these previous teams missed... I had no thyroid (figures I hadnt had one since 2003ish when my first son was born) and was the first to tell me hey you have diabetes and need medication to help. Sounds like ridiculously easy stuff to diagnose however it took till 2013 to find a Dr that could apparently read a report instead of just ordering them and gave a damn. I adore my current Doc and will always be greatful that he was there so I could be here! Throughout the time, I fired my entire team of Specialist and Surgeons and built a new team which proved difficult as I live in Victoria BC and there are not many choices we get on the island. Long story short I got my Surgeon Dr Rana Khan (another amazing and committed Dr and surgeon just without the attitude or arrogance) before I even met him his receptionist already had my previous file reviewed (9 years long and full of jumping through everyone's hoops) and on Feb 6th gave me a surgery date for March 4th 2015! I started my liquid protein diet over night... man it was tough but 9 years waiting lol I wasn't gonna stop...
Like I said I started at 350lbs as my high weigh in and on my surgery day I was weighed in by the hospital at 299lbs! Today April 13 2015 I'm weighed in at 264.5 lbs. My target weight is 160lbs so as you can see I've come far in just over 2 months but still have a long long way to go. I am finding several struggles in my day to day activities, life, work and marriage. Before anyone jumps on the marriage part my husband is my very best friend been married since 2002 and is nothing but overly supportive. He's one of those men who's attracted to big women so I was worried that we might have issues as I'm shrinking and not so big. I'm 5'7" wore a 26bbw jean pant from a bbw store as well as I was 46 (on the biggest notch it was tight) DDD bra and a 3X/4X shirt. Now currently I'm a XL tank top, 40DD, medium yoga pants and a size 16 jean pant from a normal sized store. He's been amazing through it all and next to my kids my biggest fan! We have had an open marriage for a very long time and I find since the surgery I don't want to get close to anyone at all and in turn am not letting people get close either. I have secluded myself away from all my friends and coworkers except maybe 3 people and even that its more so cause they are really pushy and persistent lol! I have a very social job and don't have any real intrest in going back to that any time soon and I loved it before. I've always been extremely social in all aspects private and business and now I just can't want too. I'm freaked out that this is just the start of me loosing who I am and what I can do! I feel lost with that part alone. Still not sure what I'm looking for from here other than the counters etc but I'm really trying to be open to whatever comes so hit me up.

Welcome! I had RNY in June 2014. Ninety pounds down in total so far, thirty before surgery. Be prepared for several changes in clothes as you drop sizes. I find second-hand stores to be very helpful.

I've become more cuddly after the surgery, though I am still guarded talking about my weight loss. Only those closest to me understand my reasons.
You are still pretty fresh after surgery. Are you eating full solids? Do you still depend on protein shakes? At your stage I was a little "wobbly" from the very low calorie intake and just getting my strength back. Remember all your vitamins!0 -
OH! Keep an eye out for signs of low blood sugar. It is very possible your diabetes will go in to remission and your former medications might be too much. I am off Metformin now.0

Take MFP for what it's worth to you - whether it's discussions, learning more about how you eat, etc. I've found the learning part very helpful and like the various off-site references to nutrition and fitness resources online.
Discussions can get snarky at times - it's just what it is and it's not personal.
Good luck with your journey.0 -
Jgnatca- thanks and yes I was off metformin the day of the surgery as my previous weight loss made the medicine too much. As far as the protein shakes I'm trying to be off them but I was told a few days ago my calorie intake in much too little and should've been increased a few days after I left the hospital. I've been having a tough time getting 300 calories in along with as much water as I need. Along with not enough calories I'm no where close to enough proteins either... which explains the large weight loss in such a short time. I love the term wobbly as that's exactly it... I am great for a few hours then I'm wobbly!
Burnsjulia- Thank you as well yeah I'm trying to get into this but I'm just so used to this being a private issue... the rest of my lifestyles changed except that frame of mind.0 -
OK, first goal, get to that 1,200 minimum daily. Have you discovered the Costco Premier Protein shakes yet?
You are drinking (sipping) at non-food times, right?0 -
Yes those are the only shakes I use... I think I need to include those between meals regularly! I just find everything sweet sweet right now.0
