Is it possible to enter goals without a starting weight?

I've been using MFP off and on for years and I'm trying to get a friend motivated to use it as well. She's afraid of the numbers on the scale and has me take down her weight and monitor the progress. She's fine knowing she's 'down 1' or 'up 1' but she doesn't want to know her true weight (yet).

Is there a way that she can track her progress here without the actual starting weight?

Thanks,
A

MFP uses a starting weight to help set a calorie goal. Maybe you could set it up for her and set her ticker to track amount lost instead of the amount she weighs. I don' think you can bypass the part where you enter weight.

You could always put in a dummy number, like 100, but keep in mind that it would throw the goals off unless you manually set them

No, you still have to enter the starting weight and log the weight on the scale.

But you can modify your progress tracker to show just relative, not absolute, weight lost. Apps --> Tickers --> Change the style of your ticker.

Having said that, if your friend isn't motivated on her own or is too "afraid" to step on the scale, she's probably not ready to be here. Motivation can't come from someone else; it has to come from her.

Very true - I know she's motivated to lose the weight but after 3 kids and 10 years she's a bit scared to read what the scale says...I think she'll get addicted to the logging tool and eventually want to gain control of all aspects...

    Baby steps.

    Thanks for all the responses.
