Paying attention to portions

This is the first time I have every really paid attention to my portions. For instance, I assumed that I was eating 1 cup of cereal every morning. I realized and was happy because I'm a short person who does need the extra calories and found out that I usually only eat 1/2 cup. I do add nuts and fruit but never knew until MFP. Yay! Now I can correctly figure out my calorie intake. Who knows maybe there are other things I can measure and figure out too. Do you measure your food? You may be surprised.

    I was gutted when I first weighed my cereal! It's nothing!! This is why I've ended up like this.

    I measure all solids with a food scale and all liquids with measuring cups. Much more accurate than guessing or measuring cups alone.

    Yep. Cereal! Gah!

    I actually don't even eat it that much anymore because I can have eggs and bacon for the amount of cereal that would fill me up.

    i measure and weigh everything that goes on my plate... i thought i could eyeball.. yea not so much.. good luck on your journey

    My food scale has changed the way I look at food completely. But now instead of wanting 300 cals of something bad, I realize I could eat a pretty big meal of proteins and veggies for half the cals and less of the fat/carbs/sugar which I'm trying to cut back on.

    Don't even eat cereal anymore due to one serving does not fill me up at all. I would rather have oatmeal with an egg and be satisfied most of the morning with almost same amount of calories. A serving of cereal isn't even a snack for me lol

    I never knew how big a serving of shredded cheese was until I bought a food scale. Hurrah! That was my happy moment.

    Dunkin Doughnut Munkins are about 70 calories EACH 0.0; Used to pop about 5 or 6 in a morning...
