Bag of cheese says 1/4 cup = 28g?

Options
I have a bag of shredded cheese and it says that one serving is 1/2 cup (28grams). But measuring it, 28 grams was about 1/2 cup! Is the grams measurement or cup measurement correct?

Seems like the package is way off.

I'd always stick with weight measurements vs. volume. And 1/2 cup serving seems big - seems like they have a tendency to go on the smaller side so 1/4 seems like the most they'd ever say was a single serving. Just my 2 cents. :)

Yup, 28g could be half a cup, or I bet if I tried hard I could jam 50g into a quarter of a cup. Weighing is key for solids! Sometimes you will find you've overestimated, sometimes under.

That's why if you bake you should always weigh! LOL Better results.

    Weighing is way more accurate

MOAR CHEESE!!!! This is a very good (positive) example of why weighing food is good. Mostly, we hear about the "horrors" of an actual cereal or peanut butter serving be much smaller than anticipated. But then, there are gems like this. I also like that what I *thought* was a serving of my favorite deli meat (2 slices) is really 4 slices (2oz. = 2 slices is the serving). Deli person really likes to slice it thin I guess. More meat for me!
