Why have I gained so much?

I weighed myself on Sunday and was 150lbs... Today I am 155! So in three days I have gained 6 pounds - surely that can't be right? I am so confused and stressed. I changed nothing about my eating and even started walking a little more. What should I do?!

Probably just water weight. Watch your salt intake and stay positive.0

Don't panic! You weight can fluctuate depending on what time you weigh yourself, whether you're retaining more/less fluid than last time you weighed yourself, and whether you may need to go to the bathroom.
Just keep on track with your calories, don't eat too much sodium for a few days, and drink plenty of water.0 -

Weight loss is a marathon not a sprint, you can't have actually 'gained' if you've been eating at a deficit, look for trends over time. Stick to your calorie goals, watch your macros and weigh/measure everything.0

Here we go....smh can't we all just play nice
Anyway to the OP.
Personally my body does horrible things when I get back on track after I fell off for some time. I swell I bloat I retain water I get ummm bathroom issues because of the sudden diet changes. So I hate the scale and the scale hates me for the first couple of months. So my advice if you physically feel crappy like bloated or that "fat" glummy feeling just don't even step on the scale.0 -

you should keep on going
and get used to the fact that weight fluctuates - you don't have a set weight, your weight is made up of LBM, fat and water .. the water is roughly 50% of your weight and it fluctuates madly with sodium, hormones (ovulation and periods are killers) and change-up in exercise
You could stop weighing if it freaks you out - personally I enjoy the fluctuations - I can be up and down 3lbs from one day to the next ..
You may find an app like Libra or if you have a fitbit / wifi scale trendweight.com helps you makes sense of it all by giving you a trendline0 -

Oh and let's say she did get pregnant over the weekend she wouldn't gain 6lbs in 3days from a pregnancy -____________-0 -
Not trying to be wise, but did anyone else notice she said 155 and 150? That is 5lbs not 6.0

This is normal if you weigh yourself at different times/too often. Try weighing once a week, first thing in the morning after a trip to the toilet.

Oh yeah, the 6 was a typo - oops! Thanks everyone for your advice.0

I track my weight every day, and while the overall trend is down, it ping-pongs a bit. Could be water retention, no b.m. before I weigh myself, moved the scale to an uneven spot on the floor - I do not worry about it as long as week by week I am losing.0
-
Water retention and normal daily fluctuations. Give it a couple of days and it will dissipate.0

My weight fluctuates over a 4-5 lb range in the course of a DAY. A pint of water weighs a pound, so if I drink a liter of water in the evening and with dinner (easy to do) that's a little over 2 lbs I've just put into myself. That doesn't include whatever I ate at dinner.
Relax. Weigh yourself at the same time of day every time. Track your weight, and notice trends over time. Upping your workouts will absolutely cause you to retain water. Having lots of salty food will make you retain water. Shark week will make you retain water. Retained water will go away all by itself after a day or two. Keep doing what you're doing.0 -
Shark week will make you retain water.

No one is butthurt, we just realize that the idea she gained 5 pounds in 3 days because 'prego' is, in fact, one of the stupidest things we've ever seen posted on these boards.
OP - water retention or normal weight fluctuations.0 -

yes, because i really meant it when i said she was pregnant, and it wasn't a silly joke in any way or just some outside-the-box factor to have a chuckle at. but i guess you couldn't tell the difference.
^that was sarcasm, by the way; im guessing you wouldn't be able to tell that either0 -

stop weighing yourself at oddball days if you don't understand how you body works with losing weight and water and food.
stick to once a week same time until you understand. it will save you a lot of heartache0 -
Sometimes that happens on new exercise plan. Give it 30 days and you'll see that if you have a calorie deficit you'll lose.0
