Are there any diabetics out there that are into weight lifting? I need some advice on how to maintain a low carb diet but still be able to build muscle mass... I suppose it is kind of a juggling act..

Losing weight or gaining weight (building muscle mass...assuming the correct training stimulus is also involved) is still ruled by calories in vs calories out. Does not matter if the caloric % is made up more of fat or carbs. One could argue though that the gains would come quicker if there were more available carbs, but that's another discussion.

Outside of the carb specific question, there are many many threads discussing if you can lose weight and gain muscle at the same time. So a simple search will provide information on that topic if needed as those discussions can get in depth.

My husband is using low carb and running and lifting. We use meal replacement our choice is Muscle Milk no sugar added. plus preparation preparation.... eat real food. Good cuts of meats fish and wild game if you can. high fiber carbs. Green giant has the steam-ables which help a lot when time is short. Monitor you sugar at least 2x a day. I keep the mini coke only 90cal for the time his sugar drop below 50. but he is doing way way better now that he has lost 80lbs and is lifting. We run a 5k 5x a week on the treadmill. we joined youfit it is great neighborhood type gym. Lots of cardio machines and plenty of weights. No frill. You have to put in the time at the gym. We use the cashew milk 25cal unsweetened with the muscle milk. Good luck. My diary is open if you want to see what we eat.
