The CSIRO diet... Any success?

Hi,
I have recently read the CSIRO diet books and am looking at starting it. I want to lose roughly 10kgs by formal (July 3) and these books claim to help you lose roughly a kilo a well. I will be hitting the gym as much as possible, and of course focusing on eating well, but has anyone had any success with the CSIRO diet? It seems like a convenient way to lose weight.
Thank you for any help!

    Why not just count calories?

Hola! The CICO diet works even more amazingly. No need to follow a diet with any restrictions. I've lost nearly two stone since January just using MFP. With exercise it would probably have been more.

Honestly... I've tried every "diet" under the sun but this one is a lifetime change, with no deprivation, no downsides and great results.

You do realize that many colleges/universities have formal dances, right?

I'm Australian. I went to university to study and we have formals in high school.

Oh. In the US many universities have dances for home coming as well as other events. A "senior formal" tends to be at the end of the year near graduation.

In HS, the "formals" are usually called prom.

I could be wrong, but since she lists her age as 19, Im assuming she is talking about a college dance.

The CSIRO diet is just a meal plan that uses science/evidence to determine the correct quantities of fruit, veg, grains etc. etc. that you should be having per day (as well as creating a deficit). You can do this without the meal plan, the CSIRO diet is designed for people who struggle with planning the food they eat.

In my local high school, seniors can invite already graduated students, as we have mixed grade classes and we all get rather close
thanks honkytonks85, I think I will start using some of their recipes to mix up my diet
I was just looking for other people who have used their recipes with results
I have been counting calories, but I really want to step up my nutrition!

I was actually in the study group for this, 12 weeks on the diet, weigh in every week, bloods every 4 weeks etc. It wasn't bad, bit restrictive and a bit hard when you wanted to eat out or eat anything pre-prepared. It reminded me a lot of the old Weight Watchers classic program, where you had certain numbers of certain food groups to hit.

In short, not the silliest diet I've heard of, but I find counting calories much simpler, especially if you aren't cooking all your own food from scratch.

Oh, and I lost about 11kg, but put them back on. But I can't blame the diet itself for that.

Thanks for that! I really enjoy cooking (which is obvious in my figure haha) so that's not really a bother.
I'm really glad to hear you had success, and I'll be sure to keep calories counting in the back of my mind.
I think I'll end up combining the two, really.
Did you follow the exercise program?

Kind of, not as well as I should have. I recall there were resistance bands and the like. I did exercise, just not their recommended one. It wasn't part of the overall study, they were more concerned with the nutrition.
