How do you do it?

I work 40 hours a week, come home to two babies, 2 years old and a 6 month old (that is very much need to be held kinda baby, was colic and getting out of that stage). Needless to say I am always exhausted. My husband watches the kids all day (he is worn out by the time I come home so I am full time mommy when I am home. He helps but I can tell he is super tired so I take the weight off of him.) I am starting off slow and making mini goals right now and I am first focusing eliminating "bad" habits but when I start putting excercise into the mix, how can I do it, when I don't have time. Gym is out of the question, no funds for that. How do you guys do it?

Try walking or jogging on your lunch. That is how I fit it into my schedule.0

Do you have half an hour or so for lunch? You could start walking in your break maybe? One of my friends likes to run up and down stairs in her lunch break. I think she may be a bit nuts however it does get results pretty quickly and its free.
It is hard trying to fit it all in isnt it?0 -
Why not go on walks with the kids?
You can always burn calories playing with them. Or pushing a stroller, maybe invest in group activities like bikes for family bike rides. There's also the park so kids play while Mommy exercises.
Also I know my mom always comes home tired from work, so she gets her exercise in during her lunch break. It could be a walk outside, anything.
I know at school between classes I'd go walk up the stairs.
I hope something helps!0 -
Having a walking buddy at work does wonders. A friend of mine and I try to walk at least once a day, when we can sync our schedules, and I always feel great knowing that I did something. I also try and take the stairs when I can--yes there are 72 of them and them seem to go on forever when I am going up them.0

I agree with the others i walk everywhere and i workout at home a few times a week after i put my little girl to bed. Try and fit in at least 15 minutes of exercise a day and you'll soon see a change. Good luck0

Since your kids are small use them as weights. Seriously. Pick them up and put them down while doing squats. Trade off between the older and the younger for a few sets of 10. So sqauts with them and squat jumps with the little one.
I used to take my kids, put them on my legs and do leg lifts. They loved it, I got a work out and we spent quality time together.
I also agree that taking a family walk after dinner helps.
Once you start working out, you will have more energy.0 -
If you have a stroller & a nice day it's perfect! It stays light so much later now. I walk miles everyday : )
Good luck0 -
I have a 2.5 year son and a 7 month old daughter and I work 12 hour night shift as a nurse 3 times a week. Hubby work 5 days a week so he is out of the house all day except on weekends and watches the kids when Im at work at night. In short, I have 4 days off but after 12 hours of graveyard shift, I just wanna go straight to my bed. Okay, I get home in the morning, feed the kids and wait till 11am or 12 noon for their nap and I sleep for 3-4 hours. I never work 2 nights in a row. Yes, I dont get to sleep after working night shift until my kids are sleeping which means I am 17 hours awake.
I make sure they have good breakfast, bath and I play with my toddler.
When I am off duty, I get up at 5:30am to run or jog when the weather isnt too cold. If it's too cold, I try to work out and sweat infront of my TV (Turbo Jam and Zumba). After an hour, I come home and everyone still sleeping. I have a cheap heart rate monitor watch but pretty much accurate and I know when to accelerate my heart rate and it also know if Im not pushing myself enough. If I work the night before, I do the aerobics infront of the TV while my toddler is eating in his highchair and my baby is in her walker playing. BTW, I never leave them out of sight.
Just practice caution and safety when working out near children. I dont work out with dumbbells and elastic bands around my son. Im always scared I will accidentally hit him while Im doing my steps.
I buy only skinless chicken breast in wholesale stores. It's easy to cook if you defrost the meat a night before. Indoor grilling is the fastest way to cook and I dont have to worry about chopping and cooking with oils. I steam my veggies in the microwave, grill the chicken, add a whole grain bread and voila! instant meal.0
