I haven't trained and am not registered. Can I run the Boston Marathon?

Where are they having the race at this year? I heard some of my friends talking about this race and thought I might try it out. How far is a marathon exactly? I did a 5k with some buddies last year and that wasn't too bad so I thought I might give this a shot. I bet it would burn a lot of calories.

Would it help if I got good and liquored up the night before to dull the pain?

I'm afraid you have to qualify for this one, but it couldn't hurt to get liquored up the night before.

If you missed the registration deadline, you can still run, but you have to do it barefoot. No shoes for you, latecomer.

It's never too late. Google "Rosie Ruiz." You'll be famous, too.

Of course you can! There's no "I" in marathon...or something.

Idk man, Boston is pretty serious about non registered people creeping into races these days. Like. Super serious.

Some kinda local kurfluffle some time back, I'm pretty vague on the whole thing, not a lot of available details.

If you're going to run that long, might as well run from something! Or to something. I'd run to a grilled cheese sammich. But I don't think I'd make it to the sammich before the cops tackled me.

What better motivation! I mean, it used to be that they'd just taze you, but now there's a good chance you'll get 8 shots to the back. Run, man! Run!

Here is a good question. You can run it, but can you start AND finish running 26.2 miles? Try it on your own first and see how you do.......lol.

OMG! You guys are so mean! He's just looking for some supportive answers. :noway:

OP, I believe the rule is that you need to be still liquored up the morning of, if you haven't registered.

And while banditing is a glorious Boston tradition, they have been, ah, less enthusiastic about it as of late. Don't know why they aren't cool with unknown randos on the course anymore.

So if a cop yells at you to stop like a big 'ole hater, make sure to keep going. They will admire your persistence. What could go wrong?

Whoa...you ran a whole 5km? man. look if you can finish a 5km without stopping, you're pretty much set for the full marathon. Could even be looking at a podium.

Don't skimp on that liquor, though. And make sure you lunge wildly at anyone wearing a fluro vest.

Nothing. They may even send a dog to help you hit that new PR. Nothing makes you run faster than being chased by a dog that wants to bite you.

I think if you show up to the start line at Hopkinton with a giant clown wig on, clown nose and face paint, a runners singlet, but no pants at all, they will let you run.

However since you aren't registered you will be required to run the distance twice. All the way to Boston and back for a total of 52.4 miles
