So many choices, but what comes to mind in my deprived state, is hot apple pie with Breyer's vanilla ice cream.
  • Pineapple Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory... worth all 700 pennies.

I went to a 2 Michelin starred restaurant - L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon and had beef cheeks with mashed potato. Now I don't know what wizardry went on in the kitchen but I have NEVER tasted anything like it - who knew potatoes could taste like that? When people say show stopping I never really knew what they meant until then.

best thing I ever ate and probably the cheapest, was a fresh loaf of Dark bread with a thick crust, cut into 1 inch thick slices with fresh unsalted butter... sometimes it's not the food itself, but the circumstances or even just the environment you're in and the memory that stays with you... like sitting by a river in Germany with a piece of bread, a dried sausage and a hunk of cheese.

Smoked King Salmon strip right out of a smoke house on the Yukon River while sipping whiskey. It's oily and rich and you can feel life soaking into your blood.

Cherries from a farmer's market in Paris. They cost 12 euro for a pound, and my Mother almost had a heart attack when I bought them, but once we started eating them she totally got it. We also got peaches, they cost 2 euro each. So good we still compare any peaches that we eat to those peaches to this day.

Gluten. :'( I was diagnosed with coeliac disease 2.5 years ago and had to go GF, and THEN my local shops finally started stocking double-stuffed Oreos, and a brand new Krispy Kreme opened up nearby. I die a little inside every time I pass by it.

A few weeks back I walked to the supermarket and bought a braeburn apple to eat on my walk back into work - I swear I groaned when I bit into that apple. That's my favourite type of apple anyway, but good gods. That was the sweetest, sharpest, crispest apple I have ever eaten.
