Whey Protein - Beginners question

Hello,
Due to increasing my exercise routine and recently having giving up meat (I still eat eggs and fish) I need to up my protein game to help repair my muscles etc. I've been told my fellow work out buddies to start taking whey protein (I was suggested to mix a spoonful of it into some greek yoghurt) - but none of these people are experts and I don't really know where to start (I googled it and got more confused).
So can any of you suggest a whey protein to take (I like in the UK, so something that can brought here please), when to take it? What to take it with (i.e. shall I mix it in with greek yoghurt) etc...
My overall goal is weight loss (I've got about 50lbs more to lose), but I want to stay fit and healthy long term etc.
I typically work out 5 days a week - a mix of spinning classes, body pump and some treadmill running.
Thanks in advanced.

and make sure you buy a scoop too, they don't always come with one0 -
Just use whey if/when you're struggling to meet your protein targets with other food. It's just a high protein food source, and as such has calories so be sure to log it in your diary along with the rest of your food.
The easiest way is to mix with water or milk to make a shake, but others prefer to add whey to other foods, like Greek yoghurt as you say, or perhaps make it into protein bars (Google Protein Pow - a UK based recipe website, and the author makes lots of baked goods using UK-sourced protein powders).
Reliable and affordable online stores I have used are The Protein Works, Bulkpowders and Myprotein. It's really just a case of trying a few flavours and seeing what you like (you can order sample sachets to try if you don't want to commit to a large order).
Avoid the Holland & Barrett whey - it's over priced and doesn't taste good.0 -
I mix a scoop of Bio X whey protein isolate into my steel cut oatmeal with some berries every morning - helps me stay full for quite a few hours.0

There are a lot of recipes online that I use... I blend either vanilla or chocolate with yogurt and berries or with my morning coffee I make my own flavors I keep low sugar... I even made a peanut butter chocolate one... I use a small blender and add ice0

Im no expert but I put half a scoop of natural whey protein into porridge in the morning. I then sprinkle with blueberries, pumpkin and sunflower seeds. Tastes lush and keeps the hunger at bay. Yay!0

I use Optimum Nutrition Whey Isolate...I just follow the directions on the label and put it in a shaker and mix with some water and drink it down.0
