I get nervous and think I am going to ruin everything if I go over. That one extra little nibble of something that I did not count, or maybe I underestimated the rest of the day. Whatever, I start to panic. Is that normal?. I'm thinking not...What do you do other than the obvious...Stop Eating.

I like to drink hot tea. My current favorite is green tea mixed with peppermint tea. The peppermint tea is oh so lovely on my stomach and takes away the bitterness of the green tea so I don't have to sweeten it :)

I like to go for a run. It earns me a few more calories, and also keeps me from stress eating in 2 ways: 1.) I'm busy doing something other than staring into the refrigerator and 2.) Relieves some of the stress that would prompt me to stare into the abyss of the refrigerator in the first place. Other hobbies work, too - but may not provide an extra calorie buffer.

I'm pretty new to this, but I do pretty much the same thing. I also feel like there may have been something I miscounted, so I always try to stay 100 or so under, just in case.

Prelog your day and include room for a snack later.

If it turns out to be a day where something unexpected comes up and I will definitely be way over calories, I try to stay under maintenance. If I am just going to go over a bit, I know I am still in a deficit so I don't worry.

    I pre-log my whole day.
I don't panic if I go over my calories a bit one day for some reason. I look at my whole week.

I pre-log my day with a wide margin of leftover calories so that if I get to the end of the day and really want a snack I can easily have one. (Or, more often, if I really want some booze...)

When I do end up near or at my goal at day's end I try a variety of things: drinking iced tea or seltzer, planning the next day's or week's meals, or even just going to bed early. Sometimes it sucks. Sometimes I cave and go over, and on those days I just try to make sure I don't go over by too much -- have some raw veggies with salsa, popchips or popcorn, pickles or popsicles, etc. Going over by 100-200 is easy enough to adjust for the next day.
