I am a 24 year old female and gained about 50 pounds last year. I weight 235-240. I am about 5'6 - 5'7
Will it be better if I run/jog? I've read that people can injure themselves if they weight a lot ? Should I just stick to the treadmill or elliptical?

Also is eating at night bad then going to bed ? Should I have a cut of time like 7 or 6?

I want to lose about 2 pounds a week. Is 1500 calories enough for me to lose 2 pounds a week ? Also how much calories should I burn a day to lose that much weight or how long should I walk or job for ?

I've cut soda out of my diet and in working on cutting milk as well it's hard tho

Thanks for the advice !

If you want to run, run. Download Couch to 5K or Zombies Run for a guided program to get you started.

Only if you A. have medical issues that arise from sleeping on a full stomach (i.e. heartburn/acid reflux), or B. have a tendency to binge at night. Otherwise, meal timing has no effect on weight loss.

What did MFP give you as a goal? That is already set at a deficit (1000 calories off your calculated maintenance), so any exercise you do will be added in. You can eat those exercise calories back to fuel your body and sustain your deficit, but due to overestimations of burns, it's best to eat back no more than 50-75%. Also, as you lose, you'll need to lower your deficit to keep from losing too much muscle...generally a 1.5 pound deficit once you have 75 pounds to go, 1 pound deficit at 40 pounds to go, and half a pound once you're in your final 15-20 pounds.

The best advice I was given: Buy a food scale and be very diligent about weighing and logging every single thing you put into your mouth.

Also, I have bad knees and I love the elliptical. I can get a serious workout in on the random setting and increasing the level to a place where I am challenged, but not unable to finish the workout.

You can eat whenever you want as long as you stay within your calorie goals.

Plug in your stats into MFP and it will tell you how much you should be able to eat while losing 2lbs a week. I know for myself, I find that too aggressive so I have mine set at .5lb a week. I have much less to lose though. If you find yourself binging often, you may be too restricted and should probably think about slowing down your goals and upping your calories.

Cutting out soda will certainly help, but you can have soda if it fits in your calories.

Also I LOVE this database for things like fruit/veg/meat that don't always have a gram basis listed on the packaging for weighing.

    Good luck friend!

Lot's of questions here. It looks like you need to do some research and get help setting up your goals..

Use this calculator to put in your stats: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

As far as exercise: you have to decide if you can run or jog or need to get fitter with starting out walking, then briskly, then vigorous, then move on to something more like jogging..
