hey guys! So I was thinking about starting the Paleo diet and I wanted to know if any of you are doing it and what your thoughts are on it. I'm already Gluten free so I'll do it GF if I do it. I really want/need to lose 20 pounds and think that if I did Paleo it would help me weight and overall health wise. (I was wanting to do the Gaps, but that's unrealistic unfortunately) so if there's any Paleo eaters out there I would appreciate tips! Thanks!

Yup there are! We are in the low carb forum though. I feel my best gluten and dairy free, and i lost 45 pounds by following Marks Daily Apple. I still follow it but not as strict 5/2...i indulge a little on weekends

No specific "diet" is going to make you lose weight - it's being in a caloric deficit that will make you lose weight. It would be just as easy to overeat calories doing Paleo as it would anything else.

Paleo is Gf so if you are gluten intolerant it won't be an issue. I personally don't believe in cutting things from my diet unless they cause me issues. Restriction is not sustainable for me long term so I'd prefer to go by my own rules - eat nutritious food nearly all of the time with plenty of fresh produce, but allow myself less nutritious food if I want it. No good or bad food, no clean or dirty, no need for "cheating".

I'm not sure why you'd try a way of eating just because - gaps sounds pretty tough, so unless you have a medical reason to do it, why would you?

I was going to do the Gaps diet bc I have sensitivitys to multiple foods and wanted to test and make sure it was an allergy. I don't want to do the Paleos to just loose weight. I want to eat cleaner and be healthy! I found that I'm very sensitive to gluten and have somewhat of an issue with some dairy. I can eat yogurt without a stomach ache but drinking milk bothers me. I am thinking that Paleos is a good fit for me so I'm going to give it a try!

A good fit is a "diet" where you eat what you like, and don't restrict anything unless you need to.

If you have health issues with food, why wouldn't you go out of your way to find out what they are? "healthy" is only relevant to you...I'd want to get tested properly and know for certain rather than eliminate food unnecessarily.

It sounds like it might be a good fit for you. Check with your doctor to be tested for food allergies/intolerances. I have similar issues with many foods, it is difficult to pinpoint exactly what and am continuing testing. In the meantime I'm doing lchf (low carb high fat). I cut out grains completely due to the reactions.

I've felt a million times better since starting this way of eating, it's also made it much easier to pinpoint what's causing reactions. I also put in the food notes if I had a bad reaction to something so I can see any trends.

Check out the low carb group on here for more info.

    Good luck!
