It's so hard to fight the temptation of eating any and everything!! Seriously, what helps? I feel like I have to just shut everything out and stay focused on not eating everything.

It's ok to eat all kinds of foods. You just have to make sure it fits into your daily calories... no need to be depriving yourself of the stuff you like. I eat like a serving of chips, candy, chocolate, cake, etc - all included into my day. This way I don't end up having HUGE cravings for things because I already eat them. :flowerforyou:

It's definitely something that you have to keep working on. They say willpower is like a muscle that you just have to keep exercising, and it'll get stronger. (I say this as a fellow "EAT ALL THE THINGS"-er)
What's helped me is to think of your calorie allowance like a bank account. Have any left for those leftovers in the break room? Yes? SWEET. No? Maybe next time.
It's hard to plan out your day exactly as unexpected temptations always come up, but I do the best I can to pre-plan, and adjust if needed.

Denying yourself anything is a quick way to failing at this. Eat everything and log it all. You may need to adjust if you're taking in to many of the wrong types of calories but you'll learn what works for you.0

I have the same problem. I love pasta but it makes me sick so I substituted the whites for the browns. Mac and cheese does not taste the same made with whole wheat pasta but it is not the stomach cramping so I learn to love the browns. I tried to avoid certain foods because I thought they were unhealthy but found myself overeating foods I did not really want. So I work everything into my calories for the day and exercise a little more if I want to enjoy something with more calories. Good luck!0

I know what you mean...I just try to look at the calories on a weekly basis instead of daily. One day I may not feel like eating much then another day I could be hungry all day. That helps me a lot. IF is a good tool also. I sometimes fast during the day and eat all my calories in the evening. Calories in vs calories out is all that matters.
I love the idea of looking at calories like a bank account also...once they're gone....they're gone.

It is hard but once you can do it for about a couple weeks straight it does get easier....I'm still in the process now. But last year I lost about 25 pounds (since gained it back ) And I ate pretty much whatever I wanted as long as it fit into my calories for the day like a lot of other people have said also. I did and am trying now to watch sugar & salt and skip soda...regular or diet...only because it bloats me!0

It is hard at first but gets easier the longer you practice portion control and once you see how much a serving really is. As long as my foods fit into my daily allowance, I eat guilt free.0

I know myself pretty well, and given choices, I will make the wrong one with food!! So, my day is fully planned. I know EXACTLY what I will eat and when i will eat it. I pre-make when I can, but since I travel alot I have certain foods that I know will be available. For example, I know the Subway Turkey and Avacodo is 425 calories. (high in sodium, but otherwise pretty good). So, for me, its all about making my food choices well before its time to eat!!!!

It also helps to keep your space temptation free... especially your home. As everyone has said it does get easier.0

I'm currently battling this right now. I'm a total food addict. It's even harder at work than it is at home - I work in a medical office and drug reps bring us delicious food at least 3 times a week. Most of the time I can choose to eat either the grilled chicken vs the fried chicken they bring, or salad instead of mashed potatoes.. But today, today they brought cheesy chicken enchiladas and the like. I might opt for one, on the restaurants web site it says if I stick to 2 enchiladas and their black beans as a side, I'll be around roughly 660 cals... (of course this isn't including the sodium, protein, etc, I'll have to let my diary do the math there...) Willpower.. willpower! lol0
