Greetings from Loveland, OH!

I hesitated mentioning the WLS (weight loss surgery) thing right away because I haven't had a chance to really check out this site to see if it ever comes up and there is so much stigma about WLS being the easy way out. Trust me, not true... gotta have your eating right and head in the game, or so they say!

As for my story, I have been overweight all my life and in 2005 had WLS. My starting weight was 307 and post surgery, have gone up and done with the lowest being 136. As I start this latest chapter (single and ready to mingle!) at 170, I realize I need to get things back in check quickly before I see 200+ again. Hoping that the accountability with this site keeps me motivated until healthy eating/exercise become a habit again instead of feeling like I'm "white knuckling" it!

I welcome any and all friends/comments that help me celebrate what I've accomplished but push me to get where I want to go!

Just wanted to let you know that indeed no stigma about WLS here! I believe there are even some support groups on here, though I think they had a different acronym for it. Someone will point you in the right direction Im sure!

Welcome and good luck on reaching your goals!!!

    Everyone is accepted here.
You'll get people who don't agree with WLS (I do think it's avoidable most of the time but I don't judge). And they will tell you their mind.
You'll get people who went through it too. For better or for worse. You can share that.

And you'll find people to agree and disagree with you about everything. And I do mean EVERYTHING. Be true to yourself and you'll find your way here!

Actually, I thought WL surgery was the "easy way" out until I saw several documentaries on TV. WLS is just a tool, and even surgeons will tell a person that if they don't change their lifestyle, WLS will do nothing for them. Sounds like you used the tool well, keeping it way under 200 lbs. Good luck reaching your goal!!

I'm assuming WLS is weight loss surgery.

How could there be any hate if you come from a place called Loveland. ::flowerforyou::

    Here's the group I found:

I was warned early on that MFP can be hard on WLS patients but I haven't found it that bad. I once gently and firmly suggested that I do have a fair bit to contribute to weight loss and diet, even if I did have the gastric bypass. I had surgery this past June and I am down a total of ninety pounds so far.

Thanks to all for the welcome and comments so far! I have no issues with honest opinions and constructive critism as long as it comes from a good place! I believe you can learn from everyone.
