2lbs in one week

I know that losing 2lbs in the first week is great and I am glad I lost the weight! But when I normally start a diet, I lose like 5lbs in the first week. I am starting at 205 and I am at 202.7 now. I am just curious if anyone knows why I haven't lost more than 2lbs.
I have been keeping a good calorie count of around 1400 and I have been exercising for twenty minutes for three days a week. This is just a start.
Please no negative comments.

2lbs is a healthy and great loss.0

Weight loss is not linear. Some weeks you may lose nothing....then bam! the next week you catch up.
So many factors to consider.....water weight is a biggie. High sodium the day before weigh in ....holding water. TOM....holding water. Sore muscles...holding water. Just shrug this off.0 -
Your over thinking it. ALWAYS celebrate a loss. Imagine if u hadnt started ur diet and it was instead a 2lb gain... it only gets harder the longer u do it so learn to appreciate even the small victories0

Just stick with it. I gained 2 pounds my first week. I'm steadily losing now.0

Are you weighing all of your solids and measuring all liquids? It could be possible that you are not logging correctly. Also- how is your sodium intake? If you are getting too much the water retention may mask a larger loss.
I know- patience is hard, but 2 lbs is still better than nothing.0 -
2/week is healthy and maintainable. You're doing everything right! Go you!0

Usually there is a water weight component to the first week or so of weight loss, especially if transitioning from a lot of high-sodium packaged foods to lower sodium home cooking. If you haven't had a big decrease in sodium, you won't get that water weight loss. Your exercise, if new, will actually increase your water weight a little bit as your muscles start to store more glycogen for energy.

Congratulations on losing 2lbs your first week! It is a GREAT start.
I am not sure what you would consider to be a negative comment: I think of all of the following comments as value neutral!
-Keep your weight loss to a safe and sustainable 1% or less per week
-Make sure your logging is accurate by weighing everything you can weigh and picking appropriate database entries
-Eat your protein and engage in exercise that will protect your muscle mass
-Learn from previous failures and succeed on your current attempt!0
