You look really great in it, but personally I vote no. I think if it's in a gym or out in public it could solicit unwanted attention, and safety is very important for females running or training alone. I have had an incident I needed to report to the police when I was training alone at my local track just in 3/4 leggings, a cap, and an old t-shirt, so I do try to think a bit more about my safety now.
Also, personally a well-fitted top such as the dri fit singlets by Nike do a good enough job to me even in summer in Australia, and they do not flop around.0 -
I'd wear a sports bra as a top if I had the figure for it.0

What you're wearing has nothing to do with safety. As you said yourself, you were wearing an old t-shirt when that happened to you. I'm sorry it did and hope it doesn't ever again. But that has more to do with the person that was responsible and not what you were working out in. You are never responsible for someone else's behaviour.0 -

Thanks. I agree with you, but with the spate of recent murders of young women in my country (One was exercising in a park in broad daylight) and also issues with some Islamic extremists, I am thinking that despite the fact there's probably always going to be people out there willing to hurt others, and that what we wear shouldn't matter, we women should still try to take some steps to improve our safety where we can-that is something we can control. I think that how we dress could be an element of that, just as much as maybe exercising with someone, or keeping alert without music blaring in headphones.0 -
I think not, sports bra strictly for workout/sports and I still wouldn't just wear that alone. Normally wear a tank/shirt on top of it because I'm not comfortable.
When it comes to tops, there are far better options to choose from in my opinion. I like making an effort when it comes to dressing up.0 -
Back when I was in my 20s, a sports bra and shorts was my typical uniform for classes at the gym. In a roomful of women doing step aerobics it was the norm. But out on the gym floor, where men outnumbered women, I would usually keep a tank or tee over the bra.
Twenty years, and thee babies, later, I prefer to keep my tummy covered at the gym. Nobody needs to see all the stretched out wrinkly skin on my belly (my downward dog is a shar pei). but I certainly wouldn't judge anyone for wearing a sports bra while working out, in the gym or outside. I can't imagine dressing that way to go to the supermarket...but that's only because it is always freezing in my local Publix.0 -
Yay! Especially when worn with yoga pants...0

I've never found one that I feel comfortable in when I am in public. But when I'm all alone they make me feel pretty.0

I am all for women wearing sports bras as tops.0
