Hey guys!
I'm thinking of getting an activity tracker as I'm currently on the road to weight loss!
I do a lot of workout classes such as Insanity and Metabolic Effect, and play netball, so would need something that's best for these type of activity really.
I preferably don't want to spend a fortune, but maybe I have to.

Any suggestions!?Thank you!

If you believe marketing hype ... all of them are perfect. If you choose to follow the science, then none really are accurate for estimating caloric burn from the type activities you do.

Okay! I'd be better off with a heart rate monitor would I?
Then I guess I could work out my calories burned yes?

I've been using the Polar M400 with the Polar H7 HRM and I've been able to lose 7 kilos (15.5lbs) in 50 days.
It measures your energy output quite well, and, along with using MFP (they sync) for energy input, you can easily monitor your goals whether it's weight loss, gain, maintain or just measure your physical activity.

Honestly based on tons of test that I have read up on, the FitBit seems to have the most consistency with steps and activity measures and the Fitbit Charge HR has a pulse registering HR Monitor which is not as accurate as a HR band, but who the hell wants to wear one of those, at least with a pulse measuring metric you have an estimate throughout the day and not just the hour you are working out each day. Also good is a Basis Peak, which also has a built in HR Monitor via pulse measurement. Fitbit for sure syncs with MFP and allows for negative calorie tracking if you want it but will also take additional calories off due to your estimated daily calorie burn.

I have a Withings Pulse and I love it. I have had it for about a year and it works really well for counting steps, tracking sleep, and checking you heart rate. You can wear it with a wrist strap like a watch, but I just keep mine in my pocket.

Heart rate monitors only come close to estimating caloric burn for a narrow range of steady state cardio activities. They are not programmed nor designed for accuracy for intervals, yoga, lifting, dance, etc. They are not meant for all day caloric estimation.

I use the Polar M400 and the H7 HRM strap. I love it. I feel very motivated and I get a much better picture of my workouts. I have it only a week.

I just got the Polar A300 today and like it (though I have used a basic polar ft4 with a hrm for the last few years). My new monitor/watch shows activity level and the amount remaining, steps, and for high intensity or workouts I wear the H7 HRM. I have found heart rate monitors to be effective for me and totally motivating. I have really been motivated to move today, especially when I got the vibration saying I have been inactive too long. Hope that helps.
