kickboxing is an AWESOME workout...and so is zumba! but i have seen more results with 9Round kickboxing. if there is a 9Round anywhere near u, try it out! you get one session free.

Neither will help gain muscle. You need to lift weights for that.

I've only done Zumba once, and didn't care for it. Kickboxing is some pretty good cardio.

I'd say kickboxing..but that's probably because I'm too uncoordinated in the dancing department for zumba.

I do Zumba for cardio and Pilates for muscle toning. I believe this is a personal decision, based also on one ability. Some people, like myself, have limitations so not all work outs are good for all people but any workout is better than none. Being heart healthy is truly important. Blessings.

well you mentioned you wanted to build muscle, so no substitute for lifting weights and eating sufficient protein there. As for toning, that all depends how much of your muscle is visible through your body fat. Cardio, to keep you in caloric deficit, will help here.
  • Zumba is great for weight loss. You burn a ton of calories in an hour & it's fun & goes by faster than an hour of any other type of cardio in my opinion! The best way to gain muscle is weightlifting, though. Zumba & weightlifting are the only things I do & I have had great results.

LOVE LOVE 9rounds! Been doing zumba for many many years because its fun, not because of results! I do 9rounds because it uses every part of your body and we build muscle with free weights and the use of your own body weight in the workout! I burn over 600 calories in 30 minutes!! Woot woot!
