I made a chocolate cake last night for the first time usin the Diet soda recipe that I Have been hearing about. The cake tasted fantastic but it is super dense and looks more like brownies. Did I do something wrong or has anyone else had those results?

Here is another recipe we love which is similar.....Jello Poke Cake

Mix one can of diet sierra mist or any diet white soda (can even use diet orange soda) with a white cake mix and bake at 350.
While still warm, poke holes all over cake. Mix up a small box of sugar free jello (use orange if you used the orange jello...we like cherry jello, then pour it on top of cake and let it soak in the holes. Then cover the top with fat free cool whip when cool...Keep refrigerated....super yummy!

Is this like chocolate cola cake? I wanted to try with diet coke but I thought what the hell, it's going to be so high in calories and fat anyway! Love it though. And yes, mine was like brownies too. Soooo good.

I just used a can of Diet Coke with a chocolate cake mix and yes is was very good and not sure how it alters the nutrition facts I am guessing just using the nutrition facts on the box of the mix before baking since the diet soday has no calories or fat...I love to bake so I am hoping that I can come up with a better low fat low cal recipe on my own without using a mix.

You would have to enter it in the recipe builder. I think it is under 200 for a 12th of the pan.

Hmm- I only make cakes with diet soda and they always come out like cake. I don't follow a recipe though; I just pour to the consistency of the batter (I'm new and didn't see the original recipe- but I just do boxed mix and soda). Everyone is always amazed and can't tell the difference.

I used to make a fruit cobbler either with blueberries or black raspberries:

1 box of white cake mix

    1 pkg of frozen fruit

16 oz of diet sprite or diet sierra mist

Spray a 9x13 cake pan with no stick cooking spray, spread the fruit on the bottom of the pan, pour the cake mix over the fruit, pour two cups of diet sprite over cake mix. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake at 350 for approximately 45 minutes, taking the aluminum foil off for the last 15 minutes, so the mixture can brown.

You can also mix the cake mixture together to make it more like a cake then a cobbler

I made a diet Soda cake today, first time I tried one and it was great ! My wife loved it too. I used a box of white cake mix and one 12 oz diet coke, mixed well, baked in a 8x8 pan at 350 degrees.

Got the Diet Soda Cake idea from Hungry Girl...she has great suggestions and pairings. Used chocolate mix with coke zero and it was DELISH, but very soft and crumbly (fell apart); as long as you only care about taste and not looks, it was FABULOUS. Next tried HG's "favorite" pairing: Lemon cake mix with lemon-lime soda (I used sprite zero) and frosted with cool whip (cupcakes)...SO GOOD. BUT, my absolute favorite so far: Made a lemon with sprite zero cake yesterday (for a 4th of July party) and frosted with lite cool whip and "decorated" with blueberries and raspberries. This was an amazingly light and yummy dessert. Refreshing and satisfying....and SUPER easy! Now just trying to figure out the exact stats so I can enter in my food log.

I made a devils food cake with diet dr pepper. I thought I would be fancy and make a layered cake... bad idea! It tasted AWESOME but it falls apart easily.
