Plantar Fasciitis

Options
I think I have plantar fasciitis my left heel hurts first thing in the morning and if I've been sitting for a while. I used to have this pain 3-4 years ago and now it's returned! It started back up 2-3 weeks ago. I've been walking/jogging/ being active for over 6 months but only now it's starting to hurt. Any suggestions on pain relief or healing? I still workout and exercise cause I don't want to be inactive!

There are lots of stretches you can do. I also have a special sock I wear at night when I have a particularly bad flare up. I have a therapeutic roller as well and I often use a frozen bottle of water to roll my arches on.

I do a lot of these things even when I'm not feeling any pain which has kept flare ups to a minimum. Google home therapy for plantar flasciitis and treat it regularly even when you're not feeling pain.

I also wear custom orthodics, but there's a lot of good stuff over the counter now. I really like Super Feet. You need to wear something for arch support.

As exercises go, I do mostly low impact stuff...I ride my bike a lot and do some swimming. I do walk and hike, but I keep running/jogging to a minimum...I do some sprint intervals once per week on a treadmill and that's it. I might try to transition outside at some point, but every time I've tried I've had bad flare ups in my feet.

Make sure your shoes are supportive enough- it might be time to get new ones at a running store that can assess your gait. If you google, you can also find a lot of stretches and exercises for the feet that are used in PT for plantar fasciitis.

Take a look at the below link

Also try #3 and #6 approach as you are sitting. Extremely effective exercises if you have plantar.

I have it in both feet. Mine were so bad that I was a candidate for surgery. I wear custom made orthodontics and have had several shots of cortisone. The only thing that helped me was working with a sports specialised PT. He used the ART treatment which is basically breaking up the scar tissue around the planter fascia. It was painful but worth it in the end.
