I need help!

I'm really doing my best to change my lifestyle. At first, it was working fine, but lately all the weight has been coming back. According to the scale, I've gain 13lb in 3 days. I didn't even lose it that fast. The scale is accurate as my mother weighs herself on it daily.
I've been careful about what I eat. I weigh and measure everything as well as put in accurate recipes for homemade items. I try to eat 1200 a day to stay healthy, but I've been struggling lately as everything I eat makes me sick. Even if I was completely wrong on the calorie count, I couldn't have eaten enough to gain that much so quickly.
I'm not on my period, and I'm definitely not pregnant.
I haven't been exercising much lately because I have a large hernia that requires surgery. Even with an abdominal brace, exercise is difficult. I've also been very tired and achy. My limbs feel heavy, and I can't sleep well although I'm tired.
I see my doctor on Thursday. I did have a kidney transplant on August 31st, so I see him once a month. I will tell him all these symptoms as well.
In the meantime, I was curious if anyone had any idea what is going on here.

I'm not a doctor, but isn't rapid weight gain after a transplant something you should urgently see a doctor about?0

You would have had to consume 45,500 calories over your maintenance in 3 days to truly gain 13 pounds. If you've eaten something high in sodium or started a new workout regime, it's probably water weight. In fact, unless your scale is broken, it has to be water weight. That kind of gain is impossible.0

Yeah. That's why I'm going to see him. I already had the appointment set up, but just started on Saturday.0

But isn't 13lbs a lot for water weight? I haven't changed workouts and my sodium levels haven't changed any.0

I gained 5 pounds in water after eating a lot of pizza once. Went away after a few days. But if you think it's not your diet or exercise, your body could be retaining water for medical reasons. You should probably get seen now.0 -
Considering your health issues I don't think anyone on here will be able to really give you some sort of insight as to what may be going on. Water weight, extra sodium, broken scale will be the only things any of us will be able to say "maybe it's this". Like @lemonsnowdrop said, you would have to consume a crazy amount of calories in order to have gained actual 13 lbs of fat so don't worry about the actual number since it is really not likely that you've actually gained 13 lbs.
Good luck with your doctor's appointment since I think he will be able to give you a better idea of what may be going on with you.0 -

It could be major inflammation in the hernia - I think you're doing the right thing to check in with your doc.0

I'm back home now. The water retention and such was caused by the hernia and not my kidneys. My kidney function is fine.0

Be sure to make your Dr aware and clear any diet or exercise with them. The priority must be to respect the herni as well as your kidney so you give them max chance to recover.
