Baby steps! Start one healthy habit today. My first habit was eat more veggies (non-starch ones). This was great because most veggies are low calorie and high volume. I can still fill my plate, but with fewer calories.

For me, no food is banned (it just makes me want it more). Instead I'm learning portion control (individually wrapped chocolate squares). I log what I eat, and no body has to be perfect to lose weight.

Another habit was be more active. A pedometer helps here. Chart your steps (or get a fancy tracker).....and make a goal to get XXXX steps this week, and add XXX more next week. People who get 10,000 steps a day didn't get there overnight. If you don't like walking look for something you do like. Liking your exercise will make you more consistent.

    This thread is really helpful

Use MFP to track your calories! I always assumed I was eating OK, but could never lose weight. Now that I am tracking everything I eat, I can tell that my assumptions were wrong & now I know better. You kind of give yourself a better idea of what portion sizes are & it keeps you from overeating.
