Wow, um, I picked up a the Biggest Loser magazine the other day and I was kind of surprised at the information they were giving.

Their suggestion for calorie intake for someone my weight and height who wants to lose weight was 1500 calories per day. They mention nothing about exercise calories. This site suggest 1800 before exercise calories for a 1-pound a week loss and 1550 before exercise for a 2 pound a week loss.

The scary part was for someone much smaller than myself they suggested they eat 1050 calories per day to lose weight. :ohwell:

What the heck Biggest Loser???

Yeah, but this magazine is meant for the everyday public. Meant to be a 'healthy' way to lose weight. I was just kind of disappointed they were encouraging such unhealthy behavior.

I joined the biggest loser website for a short time and my calories were 1500 a day and my exercise was only set to burn 173 calories per day.

Bob mentioned it this season that the first winner weighs as much today as the day he came to the ranch, many of them do gain most of the weight back. It is sooo extreme.

The most common reason to gain the weight back is that once people reach their goal they think "Ok, I am at my goal weight, now I can eat again and relax a little bit". This is truly a lifetime committment!

The problem is it's approached more as a 'diet' than a lifestyle change which is why they gain it back. A diet ends... a lifestyle doesn't. You know what I mean?

But really if I was eating only 1050 I'd probably go crazy and gain all the weight back too!!!

that is so true i lost 100 pounds in less than a year and have gained 80 back so that is why I am here. So it is not healthy to starve yourself because then we binge and cant make it
