Can fiber prevent weight loss?

I know by eating more fiber it is supposed to make me feel less hungry. I have been finding that if I eat high fiber, I retain water and weight. I have not significantly increased my fiber intake all at once, so I know that is not the case. I am just wondering if anyone else is experiencing something similar. Thanks!

That like saying does high sodium levels prevent weight loss? Retaining water does not mean prevent weight loss.0

If your fiber intake takes you over your calorie needs, you'll gain weight. If it's within your calorie needs, you won't. As your body adjusts, you may temporarily hold onto some water, but it won't make you fat. Drink lots of water to help process the fiber.0

I actually find the opposite to be true (assuming you're eating at a calorie deficit, of course). I love me some fiber. As mentioned above, drink plenty of water with a high fiber intake.0

lol I decided to try "all you can eat raw spinach" diet and felt like I was dying! I was so bloated and couldn't get rid of it. (I was thinking in terms of being healthy because I'm a picky eater and was trying to change my sinful ways lol) Some high fiber foods can irritate your belly if you have a sensitive digestive system or if you eat too much of them.0

I'm sorry. I went way off topic with that. Fiber won't prevent weight loss as long as you stay in your calorie range.0

Fibre won't prevent weight loss. In fact, it can help move things along. What are your sources for fibre? It's possible that it's also high sodium and could be causing you to retain water in that regard.0

Much of fiber is not absorbed so it's not going to be a contributing factor to fat gain.0
