Weight loss then skin breakouts

I've always had good skin, never any acne and the most I felt with was small blackheads around my nose. My skin is on the drier side and can sometimes be splotchy red, but I've never had breakouts. I've been overweight my whole life, but three months ago I was pushing 270 lbs. Since February second I've maintained a healthier diet and consistent workouts. I've lost 25 lbs. Now my face is consistently breaking out and sometimes itchy. Nothing else in my routine has changed except exercising and eating habits. Can these two things cause skin issues? I thought if anything my skin would look better.
Any thoughts?

Do you wear makeup? Are you washing it off your face before working out?
Are you washing your face right after working out? Are you toweling your face off at all during your workout? If so, what are you using to do so and are you reusing it before washing it?

I hardly ever wear makeup, especially since this has been happening. I use a cleanser every night. I don't always towel off during the workout. But yes I usually either wash my face with the same cleansing scrub and new wash cloth or I shower after working out. I think that's why I'm so confused as to what's happening.0

Could be an allergic reaction. Wouldnt hurt to go to an allergist!! If your diet has changed it could be food-related allergies.0

Did you change shampoo or conditioner...or heaven forbid use the soap provided by the gym.?

More frequent sweating without a clean face can be a huge cause for people. As well, using a towel during cause spread germs around.
Always workout with a clean face!

Some people also have allergic reactions/sensitivity to their own sweat.tlcgetsfit92 wrote: »I hardly ever wear makeup, especially since this has been happening. I use a cleanser every night. If you shower/rinse off as soon as you're done working out, it should help a bit too!

It's the working out and potentially less fat in your diet.
My advice to you would be to change your routine:
Workout and drink plenty of water
do not touch your face after using unwiped or equiptment in general
when done working out wash your hands
splash your face with cold water
go home and shower
in the shower use something clarifying (i suggest a salux cloth)
then wash your face like normal/moisturize
Switch to a gentle/hypoallergenic cleanser like Cetaphil and try taking a fish oil supplement as well if you see no improvement.
dont touch gym stuff then touch yourself
dont use your personal towel to wipe equiptment and then yourself
dont stay in sweaty or dirty cloths
do NOT go to bed with dirty hair or a shirt you've worn all day
wash your pillowcase!!
don't switch your soap/shampoo/detergent to a heavily scented product
see how that works out for you and THEN you can try acne stuff like benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, tea tree, etc.0 -
Stop using the scrub. There is no need to use exfoliating scrubs on your face I promise you that. Stick to a simple face wash and water. Sweat can and does cause a horrible rash. By using a scrub, you'll irritate your sore skin even further. I always have a break out when I first start eating well. Think it's my body saying "out all you vile spots out!" Ha ha.
Use gentle products, fragrance free if possible and if it continues... See someone who can give you decent skin advice without trying to sell you every lotion and potion going!0 -
It could be your hormones changing as you lose fat. The balance between estrogen and testosterone is delicate and losing weight can throw that off for a while. Give it some time, it will likely work out in a few months.0

I have fairly sensitive but under-control skin. I break out in a rash anywhere on my body that touches the gym equipment (handrails, armrests on bikes, fitness ball, mats) because I am allergic or sensitive to the disinfecting spray used by members and staff on the machines and equipment. I have a body size yoga towel that I use as a barrier on things I can't avoid contact with (benches, mats, balls, bike seats) and carry a small face towel that is just for my face/arms and nothing else, used once then washed.0

If the spots are around your chin, that's a common indicator of hormonal changes
I get spots when I cut down or out lots of junk food and start eating healthier food0
