OK, I'm quite troubled by my diet, even on a good day, without chocolate (mmmm chocolate....), I go waaay over my sugar RDA by at least 100%
How is it possible to stay below it when a banana has 14g sugar and skimmed milk, 10g in just 200ml? And still be nourished with all necessary vitamins and minerals?
I like to eat nakd fruit bars with are made entirely of fruit oats and nuts, raw and compressed, but they have 26g of (natural) sugars alone.
Help?

(I do have a real sweet tooth, which doesn't help.... but it's especially inclined towards chocolate)

I've cut way back on sugar (as in cookies, cake, ice cream and other sweets), but when it comes to the sugar in bananas I say eat one because the nutrients are important just as in other foods like fruits that may have some sugar but it's not processed sugar so it's better. That's my opinion.

Fruit sugar isn't as bad as refined sugar, but FDA doesn't distinguish, so MFP can't distinguish. Somewhere there was a link to a video about this, I'll see if I can dig it up.

About the sugar you should probably only have the fruit in the morning and keep away from sugar the rest of the day. Anything you crave with sugar in it I'm sure is made without sugar. It might not taste as good but you need to sacrifice to make progress. I would stay away from milk all together because of the sugar content. You can find all the vitamins and nutrients you need in a 2 times a day women's multivitamin and yes I know it's not from natural sources. The research today in the supplement field is very advanced and there might be a product relatively close to being natural without having to intake that horrible thing called sugarw

I bump up my sugar allowance a little by manually changing it. It's a bit unrealistic and a lot of my sugar comes from good foods like fruit and yogurt. I learn to go for fruits with less sugar and cut out energy/protein bars that have stupid lots of sugar.

I agree with VixFit2011, going over on unprocessed sugar is not so bad.

You also get more sugar allowance if you exercise.

I've read some really conflicting things about multivitamins though, how come cancel each other out and others just aren't absorbed and leave through the urine within hours. Also I'm not about to risk osteoporosis to be skinny. I know that I haven't consumed enough milk/calcium for most of my teenage and adult life so better late than never ;)

I am so glad you posted this. I have been wondering the same thing. I only eat fresh fruits and whole grains and most of the time i'm over my sugar after breakfast alone. It's nice to know it's not just me. This made me feel way better.

I understand the need for Calcium in the body but you can get it other ways and I'm sure any protein shake being made from Milk would obtain the daily amount of Calcium needed. About the Multivitamin I would think that any liquid multivitamin would work a lot better than a pill for a various amount of reasons and one being that it goes right into your system

Sugars that occur naturally aren't evil. Lactose is a sugar that occurs naturally in milk, it isn't granulated crap that's dumped into it.

watching that video, it's interesting, but i don't drink soda, eat white carbs and always eat lots more than the default fibre, I'm also not obese though...
Just wondering if I actually am eating too much sugar or not, (ignoring the chocolate, i'm working on that one)

If it's naturally occurring, like in fruits, or milk, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. How many people do you know who got fat off of fruits and veggies? I don't know any! :-)

Thank you, this is what my head's saying, but good to hear it from someone else. Just isn't nice seeing a red that isn't protein or fibre!
