calling all vegans!

I've been vegan before, though my love of a real burger and lack of finding a good veggie burger caused me to stop, its always been a neat challenge. What I don't understand though, is how healthy it is to eat all the processed soy products? Is it really so terrible to eat meat that you'll eat imitation meat? Same with all the vegan frozen meals, all processed. I'd be interested to hear vegans views! Please note: I'm honestly curious so there's no need to get defensive or be rude or tell me what I eat is wrong. I welcome all your input! :)

Simple answer; I don't eat any of the things you mentioned. No processed soy, no imitation meat (and yes, it is far worse to torture and kill an animal than to eat imitation meat - I'm not a vegan for my health), and no ready meals.

For one thing its not imitation meat. Its a soy burger plain and simple. They are 2 entirely different things. One shouldn't look at cheese thats not milk or burgers that aren't animal meat as imitations. They are their own food groups.

As far as eating processed stuff I have read from someone who is almost entirely against it, and she recommends if you eat anything processed go with something like Amy's frozen dinners or foods. Its mainly, if not all, organic and really good quality.

Also, they make rice burgers and blackbean burgers. Those are good too

Please know that I'm not feeling or acting defensive. Just telling what I've read and believe

I don't think any processed food is healthy vegan or not. I am vegan but I didn't chose this lifestyle to eat unhealthy, so I do not buy imitation meat or frozen meals. I agree though that there are some vegans that eat a lot of processed foods, but so do people that eat meat. I think any diet should have healthy whole foods with minimal to no processed food.

    XD

When I wrote 'no imitation meat' it didn't even occur to me that that might look like it includes seitan. I was thinking of commercial fake meats. You're right, homemade seitan is it's own kind of food. Tasty, tasty protein.:D

I'm not defensive either, OP, I'm just blunt.

FYI- I don't eat animals because in my mind its horribly cruel........

I only wish more people around me felt the same way........But I guess this would be a post for another website :ohwell:
