Activity Trackers...

At the office where I work, my boss is thinking of having a "step challenge". Basically he wants to help us "move" more. We are wanting ideas on what type of Activity trackers to get. We have an employee request that it monitor sleep and another request that it track when she rides her bike. Any help is very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.

I have been using a Fitbit Flex along with a group of co-workers. We do the workweek hustle and it is really a lot of fun and very motivational. Mine does monitor sleep. It will monitor any forward movement although your biking friend may need to also log in her time on a bicycle. I wear mine during martial arts practice, during which a lot of my time is spent falling down and getting back up. It seems to track the activity just fine even though I pin it inside of my gi instead of wearing it on my wrist for the class.0

Hi:
Activity trackers are very varied and each individual has his(her) own prefeerences.
I like one that has Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) capabilities. I used to have Polar FT7, now I am thinking a Fitbit HRM for an upgrade.
I believe there is no one activity tracker that will make everybody happy0 -
Thank you both.0

Hi,
I use the Vivofit (and have a few other people using them). The synch with MFP is finally working, tracks sleep etc and has optional heart monitor. What is making the difference for most people is the "move your *kitten*" bar. That's a red bar that starts to light up if you have been too stationary. It's been the added nudge to get everyone up in moving esp during the work day.0 -
Hi, I had the polar ft7, now I have the Vivoactive with the hrm included. I love both, but my Vivoactive is a lot better. It syncs everything to Garmin connect and MFP. Like stated above keeps you moving.0

Basic pedometers start in the $10 range ... no syncing with apps but an inexpensive way to track walking for all in the office. The next step up are the more basic fitbit devices ... some basic syncing but still limited to step based activities ... now in the $50 range. The devices that track sleep (actually movement during sleep) start in the $100 range with the vivofit, fitbit flex, etc. For those wanting to incorporate cycling ... that really requires a GPS (cycling isn't a step based activity that lends itself to a pedometer) ... and that puts things at the $250 price point with the Vivoactive and Fitbit Surge.

check out the jawbone up move! it tracks movement and sleep and the jawbone app is by far the best i've come across. for $49.99, it really can't be beat. $10 cheaper than the cheapest fitbit, a 6 month battery, and a vastly superior app that you can sync with mfp plus, if you have a costco near you, they sell a combo pack that comes with the move unit, the waistband clip, and 2 wristbands for $47.99.0
