I'd like to get back to working out on the treadmill, but Morton's neuroma pain crops up after a few days.Any thoughts on how I can avoid the pain but still use the treadmill? Anyone found an support and wide walking shoe that you'd recommend?

Just some good running shoes worked for me. I went to one of those stores that analyze your stride, gate, etc... and after trying on a few pair, felt the Brooks brand was good for me. Also, make sure you don't walk barefoot too much or at all as this exacerbates it. I have to wear socks in the house and innersoles in my cheap work shoes. Had a cortisone shot in the foot and that helped, but will "feel" it sometimes if I do a lot of squatting due to wearing hard weighlifting shoes too much.0

Get the cortisone shot! It's been a lifesaver for me. I know I've been really lucky with having a great reaction to it (completely wipes out the pain and lasts about a year) but seriously that stuff is a awesome and it does not hurt, it's a teeny little shot.
Otherwise, these are the kind of inserts you want:

Because they will relieve the pressure on the neuroma itself. Regular inserts will not help the Morton's pain. You might even ask a doctor if they can prescribe some inserts - mine offered to if the shot didn't help and I think insurance would have at least pitched in.0 -
In addition to a pad under the metatarsal head, i'd also wear shoes with a zero "heel to toe drop", like skateboard shoes. That goes for your non-exercise shoes too. Most shoes have a raised heel, which puts more weight on the forefoot.
When you sit, keep your feet flat on the floor - don't bend at the toes.

Definitely get some of the metatarsal pads. I got a pair. That has been all I need.1

I had a cortisone shot and it did great for 2 years. I also have an insole the doctor gave me for my foot with the neuroma and that has helped a lot.0
