Dear scale: I HATE YOU!

So the only scale I have is my Wii Fit. (Yes, I know I need a real scale, no I cannot afford it) and a few days ago it told me I gained 6 pounds within a week putting me at 254(week before that it told me I lost 2-putting me at 248). Today I decided to actual play the games on there, but I thought I should adjust my target goal weight because my previous one had passed a while back. So ofc I had to weigh in. It told me I GAINED another 11 pounds (265 now). I restarted my wii...again...still 265. RESTART- 256 (big sigh of relief). A few days ago when I weighed in (when it said 254) it was in the AM before eating, and since it's 10pm now, I know my weight has fluctuated throughout the day. so I'm alright with 256 (As ok as I can be anyways).

but UGH! I hate how unreliable this stupid thing is! I have decided to weigh in 1x a month now (last day of each month) but I just worry that I'm not going to get an accurate reading. I fear it's going to tell me I lost more then I did and I'll get my hopes up. Or that it will tell me I gained, when I didn't, and then I'll get discouraged!

(I dont have a gym anywhere near the town I live in so no, I cannot go there and weigh in) UGH stupid scale sucks!

    How about ignoring the scale and get a tape measure? It's much cheaper but still gives you a number you can record - instead of pounds, you just record cm (or inches depending on where you live).

    you can get scales at wall mart for like 15 bucks i say invest girlie (there analog ones but work)

    Is the Wii fit board on carpet or a solid surface? Generally it is best to have any scale on a flat, solid surface. Good luck with your journey!

    I can weigh at my doctor's office. It's not convenient, but I just go once a week. I keeps me from sweating the little fluctuations that happen when you weigh every day. But I like the tape measure idea too

    I hate my scale too. But my circumstances are different. I say buy a tape measure. I hate my tape measure too :)

    I have an issue with the scale, weight loss has been slow in terms of what the scale says. I however have lost a lot of inches and use that as my reliable tool. Could you see if your Dr. would let you walk in once a week just to use the scale? I used to do that or I would go to the store and "test" the scale out, but it back and then "test" the same brand of scale again at the store 2wks later. Might give you more reliable numbers than the wii.

    I know this was said, but the tape measure is the best plan, it is more accurate than a scale, and if you are only doing it once a month you may see big changes in the tape measure which will help motivate you! Good luck!

    You could always go into your local Walmart and "test drive" one once in a while :laugh:

    I'm unemployed and having trouble finding work. I cannot afford a scale right now when I have bills to worry about.

    Just a few things... For one, Wii boards and a game like EA Interactive Fitness are good for measuring but some factors can affect it's reading. I'll list them... (1) check and make sure you had good batteries. Without the right juice it'll get all wacky. (2) The Wii board must be on a hard flat surface. That means "no carpet". It'll give you the wrong readings. (3) Lastly, weigh yourself only once a week at the same time with the same circumstances. Best recommended time is on the morning shortly after getting up and using the bathroom, before eating.

    I thought about that. I'll give it a try. Just gotta make sure I measure perfectly every time

    we live 45 minutes away from any target, walmart, etc. so that isnt really realistic. Then again, it might work out if I start shopping at walmart for our groceries....hmm...thats a good idea. we shall see!

    Keep your head up and it could be the carpet if your wii sits on carpet. But your weight can flux from 2-10 poubnds a day. Keep doign what your doing and remeber Wii is a game, not an accurate scale or workout.

    the wii scale is not accurate at all..at target they have some really cheap scales (10 bucks!!) :)
