Hey guys,

I just found this weird device in my gym.

roll-shaper-xtra-64.jpg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-M7frgGThj0

Has anyone used this before? If so, how did it feel and would you recommend it?

I was so confused when i kept seeing people go sit down on it. I am too nervous to try it. :)

Lol reminds of the belt thingys from years ago that were supposed to shake the fat off. It does look like it would get rid of a lot of tension though

omg! Is that out in the open where everyone can see you use it?! hahaha, that video, she was getting down in the inner thighs and buttocks! I couldn't imagine doing that in front of people! If it was behind a closed curtain I would use it...... ;)

Gonna stick to a foam roller myself. I think I'd be pissed if my gym wasted money on a gimmick like this.

I've seen ppl from the UK ask about the 'jiggling plates' that supposedly spot reduce that they have in gyms over there. This seems like it would be in the same grouping....something no one really needs but everyone think they must have ...so they purchase one for home use.

    I'll pass

This looks like it's from 'As seen on TV!' Walgreen's special. Curious, are you located in the US? I know in the UK a number of members over the last few years have been talking about the 'plate' that you stand on and shake to spot reduce.

It sounds... well, sorta scammy so makes me wonder what gym it's in?

Maybe it's a museum relic put out in Bright Orange for an Anniversary showing of it's invention date.

    I'm in Scandanavia.

I am from the US and have seen the shake plate nonsense where you can burn SOOO many more calories. I know thats a scam.

I didn't even know what this device was until i googled many random search items like "rolling wood device" and "fitness roller mechanical" and so on. haha

The stomach roller mentioned above is almost exactly what the OP shared... it's from the 1800's. LOL Here's a blurb from the Kelloggs Cornflakes inventor himself who also invented this contraction:
    contraption51.jpg
"Actually, truth be told, Kellogg was known for many unorthodox views, and not just about exercising! Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, who brought us corn flakes, and bran flakes, along with his brother Keith Kellogg, was quite the character. He lived during the 1800’s and worked as the chief physician at the infamous Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan. Really, this was an extravagant health resort for the wealthy. It actually gained most of it fame in 1994 when the movie “The Road to Wellville” came out. While Kellogg was a genius and introduced a myriad of useful ideas, such as the perils of smoking, the importance of intestinal health, the significance of STDs, as well as the underlying dangers of coffee, he also had some really odd beliefs. He believed in female genital mutilation, celibacy, electric shock therapy, immersion in freezing cold radium laced water as a means of therapy, and racial segregation, among many other strange and hideous things. However, he, like Dr. Zander also advocated the use of massage machines as methods of exercise."

Sounds like a lovely guy.. :#

It's not for weight loss. The idea is to break muscle adhesions and ease soreness.

You can do the same thing at home with a rolling pin.
