    I think if you focus on maintaining weight, or slow weight loss, your breastmilk will probably be more than adequate for a 20 month old.

    At 20 months your supply is well established. As long as you don't drastically cut calories you should be fine. Eat a good diet with plenty of nutrient dense foods. Basically the same advice I'd give someone not breastfeeding.

    I'm still feeding my 32 month old. I don't add any extra calories for breastfeeding like I would for a new baby, but I set my goal to lose .5 pounds a week. I figure the few extra calories I burn producing milk let's me lose somewhere between a pound and half a pound a week. Or gives me a cushion for when I go over calories.
