You can do it. I'm type 2 and I have lost 53 lbs since last June. My blood sugar is now totally in control and I feel so much better not to mention I look better too. :p I've gone from being obese to within the normal weight range and it really hasn't been hard with the help of MFP. Good luck.

Mine wanted me to do a 1200 calorie a day diet. I decided he was full of *&^% and came here and started doing something a lot more reasonable. Most doctors are not nutritionists. However they can tell you that you need to loose weigh. The way I figure it, most people already know if they need to loose weight. It would be nice if medical professionals gave more helpful advice and actually listened to their patients.

Anyway welcome. May you have great success. :)

I am a Type 1 diabetic and last July at my Doctor appointment, my labs were really bad. I was 219.5 pounds, my A1C was almost 8.0 and my LDL was 101. I was having wide swings in my glucose levels. I started using MFP on July 7th 2014. I have now been maintaining a weight of about 160 since February. Total weight loss, 59.5 pounds. My last doctor appointment, A1C was 6.8 (target was under 7) and my LDL was 57. (target was less than 70) Just stay under your calories. The weight will come off and you will feel better. Good luck.

I'm type two diabetic. I've lost 17 lbs since November. At that time my doc wanted to put me on a second medication as my A1C was 7.2. I'm already taking Metformin. I refuse to take a second drug, especially as it sounds like it will be stronger than the one I'm already taking. I'm also active doing cardio every day. My fasting sugar is now averaging upper 70's to low 80's, down from the 120's it was hovering around in November.
