Hi everyone!!
Im new to this site, so nice to meet you. :) I'm going to start juicing on Monday and I was just curious if anyone would want to do this with me? I'll be doing it for a week.

Also, does anyone who has done this before have any suggestions? I've been reading up but would love to hear some success stories.

Thanks,
Kayla.

What do you think will help you in replacing meals with juice? Why not just eat the fruit? Other than feeling sick by the end of the week, and then gaining everything back when you start eating normally again, what else do you expect to happen?

    Hi and welcome

Get your hard hat though ....this won't go well...juicing is only worthwhile if you like juice ...it won't help you lose and maintain weight loss

Juicing to add some extra vitamins and minerals to your diet...........fine. Juicing as a diet plan for weight loss...................not so good.

I didn't realize it was a bad thing. I wasn't hoping for weight loss but I thought it might shrink my stomach so I could eat normal portion sizes. Because, now normal portion sizes leave me still hungry. :'(

When I was at my lowest weight and maintaining pretty well ( 3 years ago) I juiced a lot - just because I liked it. It gave me a good intake of vitamins and nutrients; I mixed the blends up and it suited me. I still ate a meal with the husband in the evening, and it 'suited 'me. I am planning to go back to it very soon ( once I can chop and cut with my right hand, it injured at mo); but again, it's a matter of choice, preference and what 'suits'. My sister gagged on some of my juices, but I loved them......I hated some of her favorite meals in return.
It just working out what works for you and how you can incorporate it into your lifestyle. As a quick fix measure and if you have not been eating pretty healthily before hand, you will feel ill.......and if you don't like the taste then it just miserable.......a relative tried it and it couldn't manage beyond the 3rd day without a meltdown.......

Juicing is the worst thing you can do. Eat normally. Eat healthy. Eat proportionally. Stop drinking sugar. Don't eat junk. It's not so hard.

What do you define as junk? Healthy? Why are drinks bad? These have nothing to do with weight loss.

If you've never done a juice fast before be careful jumping in for a whole week, your body goes through a lot physically and mentally when you only consume juice for an extended period.

It's also not necessary to do for weight loss. Portion control and appropriate caloric intake will help you reach your goals. Starting with such a drastic juice fast plan will likely set you up for a disappointment as it will be hard to complete.

Try adding juices in as a snack or part of a regular meal for the added nutrients.

What is the purpose of juicing?

I love homemade juice, but only as an addition to a regular meal.

Really, there is no magic in juicing.

Actually, you don't have to cut anything out, you just have to eat less calories than you burn. That's it.
    Junk = processed foods.
Drinks can make up a lot of unneeded calories. Just by cutting out 1 soda a day a person drops 1000 calories weekly. If you're drinking 2-5 sodas daily those calories add up

So, what you're saying is to moderate soda. I would agree that it adds extra calories, but if a person want to fit 3 sodas in their day within a calorie limit, then said person should be able to do so. Also, she didn't ask about soda, she asked about juicing, most of which contains loads of sugar.

People can also eat processed foods and lose weight.

Op, if you like juice or just want to add it in with your meals then that's fine. But there's no reason to juice fast for a week. If you eat at a deficit, you'll lose weight . so tormenting yourself by just drinking juice is not needed. Get a food scale , weigh and measure everything you consume to be sure your really at a deficit and you'll be fine.

Well a friend of mine started juicing and he lost 20 pounds in his first week && who doesn't want that? Lol. I didn't realize it was terrible for you. I mean it makes sense but there's so many articles that praise juicing I thought it was the norm. I also was hoping that it would shrink my stomach so normal portion sizes wouldn't leave me feeling so hungry.

Basically I thought juicing was the magical cure

At least now you know. There's lots of good solid information on these forums, many back by peer reviewed clinical studies and not just articles, blogs, and opinions from those who use pseudoscience to sell you an idea or product.
