Starting P90X - can I still go for an evening run?

As the title implies, I'm starting P90X today.
(P90X is a 90 day home workout routine composed of 6 one hour workouts per week, with every fourth week focussed on recovery).

BUT - I want to run for 30mins 3x/week AS WELL.
I am used to enjoying lots of cardio (running ~20km/week). It improves my mood, sleep, digestion and appetite.
I don't want to cut back my running because it gives me so many benefits, but I am stuck at a plateau with my bf% and want progress! I'm 5'6 & 118lb (seems perfect) yet I still have flabby bits.
I also don't want to burn out.

Should I cut back my running?

    Hi,
    Speaking from personal experience...

I found P90X fairly low intensity. In fact my heart rate never got higher than 130 which I believe is good for fat burning.

If your into Cardio you'll easily be able to do a P90X and then a 5KM....maybe more :)

    Shaun.

    Hey, thanks!
I found the same - my heart rate stayed low, (although I've only done 1 of the workouts). I did a 45min cycle this evening and still have heaps of energy after a 1700 calorie day, so jogging might be on the cards, which would be great! I will have to experiment.
    I appreciate your insight. :)

I'm into week 10 of P90X having previously been a cardio junkie. I'd say you could easily forget the Kenpo and Cardio days of P90X and run instead. The Plyometrics is a good tough workout so would keep that in the schedule. Plus on anything but the Legs day a short run before/after P90X would work fine. I find the legs session tough enough!

From your goals I'd say focus on the P90X weights sessions and get those done as a priority, then see what energy you have left :-) I do steady cardio on rising and P90X early evening which works well for me.
