I really enjoy running I am doing the c25k app right now to train for my first 5k.. I also have several 30 day challenge apps on my phone (one for abs, butt, planking, and push ups) That only take about 10-15 minutes. They start small and increase a little every day. That may be a good starting point. They don't require any weights. Also youtube is great for different exercise videos to help you get acquainted with different exercises and trainers with out having to spend a boat load of money. Good luck!0

I love the Jillian Michaels dvd's, they're inexpensive and the one's I choose are around 30 minutes.

The simplest is walking. Simple, it can stay interesting by simply changing the route, requires no equipment, and it is effective.0

I love doing a mixture of cardio, body weight movements, and weight lifting. There are so many great resources out there. I love Popsugar: http://www.popsugar.com/Workouts
because it's a good resource for ideas and health questions. There's also an app you can download on your phone. Jillian Michaels dvds are a great option, like MomMaggie said. Zumba is also an excellent way to burn calories and tone your body. Good luck on your new healthy adventure! Just remember that although it may be tough, your body is capable of great things if you just set your mind to it. Always switch it up so things don't become stale. Don't give up!0 -

If you don't want to walk outdoors....or want a little more step variety.....walking videos are great. Here are some free YouTube ones....but they come in DVD form also.

Here is what I ask people - Was there anything you liked to as a kid that was active? for me it was jumprope and hula hoop, so that is what I used to do. I also like to dance, love music, don't dance well, but love to do it. So I would dance. Now I also take zumba, I am not good, but boy is it fun
Here are some fun suggestions:
Jump rope
Hula Hoop
Skating
Bicycling
Swimming (could be walking in pool too)
Wak to the store instead of driving if close
Other ways to get exercise into your everyday:
Watching TV, get up and walk in place during commercials
Park further away then walk the rest of the way to your destination
Take the stairs (start small and build up)
Going to Mall - Take a quick lap or two around the entire mall before hitting your destination store
Note there are also many workouts available to try on the web or on demand thru cable. Try one or two and see what you like. Remember you don't have to keep up immediately.
Most important try to have fun with it. If you don't like what you choose you won't stay consistent. If I had to get on a treadmill or run, I would never do it. However, give me a Zumba class or just turn the music on so I can dance, that I would do whenever.0 -
YouTube can be a great place to get started, with tons of fitness videos for free. Try Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred to get you started (it will be hard at first!) Another great resource is FitnessBlender.com. You can select "I need help to get started" and it will give you a quiz to recommend a program. Some programs cost a bit of money (not much, usually under $10) but there's tons for free.
Walking really is a great place to start, though. If it's uncomfortable for you to walk outside (the temp is starting to go up in a lot of places) then check into a cheap gym membership (Planet Fitness is usually $10 a month). If you have one nearby, it's well worth investing for when the weather doesn't cooperate outside. Some people say they are dedicated enough to run or walk in the rain or snow or ice or whatever, but for the rest of us, weather can just be one more deterrent which can determine if you work out today, so you might as well remove that obstacle if you can by investing in a comfortable place to ensure that you get it done.0
