Carmen Electra: Fit to Strip Questions

Hey MFPers, I've been follow Carmen Electra's video for a week now and I have some questions for anyone familiar with it. Its the second DVD in her Strip Aerobics series, Fit to Strip (nothing sexy about this workout!), and I'm trying to figure out approximately how many calories I'm burning in a session and what to classify this workout as. I've been logging it as general aerobics but I found one comment in the forums that said its circuit training. Also wondering if this is adequate cardio to do four times a week, alternating strength training on my other days. I know a HRM would be ideal for the calorie count but I'm not able to invest in one at this time.
Thanks in advance for your help! :flowerforyou:

    Hello!

Good question. I guess you could enter it under circuit training. I wonder if there's a big difference between general aerobics and circuit training for 30 mins (calories wise). I think it's a great training; I usually do the isolation muscles exercices after the 30 mins general workout of the beginning. I doubt if you do this workout everyday, just like Carmen says at the beginning, that you will have a dancer's body in no time. The workout is good, but it's not as hard as some of Jillian Michael's ones. I suggest you buy another DVD or switch a bit instead of doing this DVD 4 times a week, you will get bored and your body will get used to it! Nonetheless, I really enjoy this workout DVD, one of my favorites!

Thanks a ton. Its definitely a good workout and pretty intense for a former couch potato like myself. I feel extremely light headed after a straight half hour! I'll definitely check out some of Jillian's videos as well... recommendations, anyone?
  • A website I found said that the 30 minute workout burns 186 calories. I expect you burn a few more if you add weights to the upper body exercises, but it is always nice to underestimate how many calories you burn, then you get that happy surprise when the weight comes off more quickly. It is a great workout! I love how I feel afterward, plus they seem much more supportive than Jillian Michaels, lol.
