1189....and a half marathon

So today is my 1189 consecutive visit to MyFitnessPal, and I have had many trials & tribulations, one of these is a never ending cycle of ups and downs in weight with plateau after plateau.
This year I decided to take a different view. I decided let the weight worry about itself while I get fitter and stronger.
I decided to start my running again, I used to be a half decent runner years ago with a personal best of 1:19 for a half marathon, have never run a full one but it is on my bucket list, I decided I would go for it, been pounding the streets so to speak, and a long way to go in training (well 10 weeks actually).
So I entered a half marathon to see how I would go and treat as a training long run, well guess what only went and done 1:39, so proud of myself, and wanted to just pass the message on for those who worry about the scales, it is not just all about the weight.
I now have a resting heart rate of 49 bpm and am feeling stronger and fitter than I have for at least 15 years.
Bring on the full one!

Fantastic approach . . . One I need to follow re: getting fitter and not worrying about the scales!!!0

Thanks, and yes I was just a little bit over it! Looking at the scales and nothing was changing, can be a bit soul destroying once you get the big hit at first and the big losses happen, the plateau stages really annoy.0

Well done, nice victory!0

That is an awesome time for a half, good job!
The hardest part of a full, in my opinion, are miles 15-19. After that, its all downhill.
Except for the .2, but we don't talk about that...0 -
Great half!! Good luck on the training and that marathon.0
