I'm new to myfitnesspal and wanted to introduce myself! I'm Jen, living in Charleston, SC and a friend sent me this link, we're both trying to lose and while I'm trying to be good with my eating I don't really know what is the right combo of carbs/fats/whatever. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Looking to lose at least 60 pounds :/

    Hi Jennifer,

Welcome! That is the great thing about this site. It will tell you how many grams of fat, carbs, sodium you should have per day and you can customize what you monitor. For me, sugar is always a problem and a big weakness, so I have added that to my list of items I want to monitor.

As you start logging you foods, you will see what each food has in terms of fat, carbs, etc and you will be able to make more informed decisions about what you are eating.

    Best of luck!

By being dedicated to logging every morsel onto MFP you will teach yourself this. I used MFP for about 6 months before I lost any weight, I used this time to teach myself how to eat a well balanced healthy diet.

The nutrition board on your home page will tell you how many of each thing you can have a day. Hope that helps...best of luck.

Hi Jen! This website is a great support for any fitness goal. We all have the same issues and everyone is willing to help you work through it. If your really new to healthy lifestyle check out some peoples public diary to get an idea of what your meals should look like. Even post a topic for some ideas for nutrition and or exercise plans and I'm sure you will be amazed with the amount of responses. Enjoy!

    Hi there :0

I only joined myslef last week and I'm finding the site really motivating for logging all my foods and exercise and obviously the online support. Feel free to add me as a friend - the more support and motivation the better!
