Working out when ill

I am sorry if this seemed like a dramatic title, but I couldn't think of anything else.

Back to the topic. I have been feeling icky for the past week: lethargic and sniffly and fluish. I go to see my doctor tomorrow morning, but I know it probably has something to do with allergies(it usually is).

How do you guys handle your workouts and eating while being sick? I have just been unmotivated because of it. I don't feel well, so I don't eat as much. And I am not talking junk food binging or anything. Just more of not enough in quantity, or how many times a day. It's a bummer. I know health is first, but I would be willing to bet that we push through those feelings too to get our goals still right?

Just wondering everyone's thoughts.

I exercise if I am feeling OK below the neck. So I'll exercise gently if I have a cough, sore throat, headache, etc. If I have a mild fever, I might take a walk. If I have chest congestion, stomach flu, etc., or if I am just feeling sore and achy all over, I take a day off, or possibly a short walk if I have cabin fever.

I log my food but don't necessarily aim to lose weight (well, these days I am at my goal weight, so I'm not aiming to lose anyway, but even while I was losing, I would hit the pause button when I was sick). If you're sick, the first priority is getting well again.

    Get well soon!

As long as you're not going to a gym to work out, do whatever your body can handle, but it's likely not going to be able to handle the normal load.

If you are going to a gym to work out, stay home, and rest. Don't be the **** who gets everyone else sick.

When I don't feel well, I eat when my body says it is hungry and I will walk depending on how bad I feel. Now If I have the flu I don't do anything. but if it is just allergies I walk. Hope you get well soon!

Oh you are so right. I didn't go to my gym at all that week because even with the whole "sanitize after everything you use" I wasn't taking any chances.

Thank you so much for the well wishes! I'm over the cold/cough/flu thing. It's a killer when you have allergies too because you feel sick, but you know no one can get it from you. But you still feel icky and want to skip the workouts.

Also thank you for the advice. I appreciate it!

I read an article that light to moderate exercise can actually help allergy sufferers.
