right...that time of the month!!! Any help or advice because I'm dying for some chocolate. I don't have any chocolate in the house apart from chocolate sprinkles u use for baking but now I've found them I can't get them out my head and don't think they will survive the night. Any advice about How to deal with these monthly cravings??? I could easily put on all the weight I lost in one week!

making sure that you eat throughout the day to regulate your blood sugar levels and when you do eat that it contains some slow releasing carbohydrates such as whole grains. A B6 vitamin (or better yet a B complex with high B6 content) and essential fatty acids may also be deficient and causing these craving.0

Magnesium...that's the nutrient in chocolate that when I upped for TOM, the craving stopped. Take it with zinc which can help with bloating and cramps. Good luck!!0

Plan to allow yourself to have the stuff that you crave and don't beat yourself up about being "perfect". Also...step away from the chocolate sprinkles. They are in no way a substitute for the real deal and will probably only leave you wanting something better! I mean, really, have you ever tried sprinkles by themselves?0

Make room in your calorie in take for the day to allow for those little cravings. I like to have the individually wrapped york peppermint pattys. They hit the spot for me.0

If it's just the idea of chocolate, get some sugar free fudgesicles for 40-50 cals each (depending on brand). If you usually have a candy bar or something else specific, make room on your calories for it.

Cacao bars (raw chocolate). Low-no sugar, bitter, but they're real chocolate (savory). High in antioxidants and healthy fats. Also vegan. I eat it every day including when I had my periods. If you don't like the idea of bitter/real chocolate then you are only craving sweets.0

Make room in your calorie allowance. I have chocolate every evening by doing this.
If you're out of calories today but really desperately need it then go out and get some and either accept you're over for one day, no biggie or log it as tomorrow mornings breakfast.0 -

MFP is a tool and you can use it in whatever way works best for you. You can choose to go over or go under. Going over by a small amount will slow down your rate of loss, but it may be worth it if it makes this whole endeavor more sustainable. In addition, if as cited by Lyle MacDonald, the energy expenditure is actually up, you will need to eat more to have the calorie deficit you are targeting.

If I need to eat 1500 cals a day to lose .5 lbs a week (that's 1750 cals in a half pound, /7 days= 250 cals a day), but I "add in" 250 cals a day, I will stall my weight loss.
Does this make sense?
You can certainly eat over your goal if you're hungry, but you should not adjust your daily goal based on hunger.0 -

Ok, FIRST please go get the chocolate before you go crazy!! SECOND make it fit into your daily calories. THIRD the only way that you will gain back a pound from eating chocolate is if you eat like around 15 hershey's milk chocolate bars in one sitting...
In other words, eat SOME chocolate, make it fit into your daily calories... LOG IT AND ENJOY!!

FWIW, I've read, repeatedly, that you burn 100-300 calories MORE per day in the days leading up to your period.

There is nothing wrong with adding to your calorie goal, period. There is double nothing wrong with adding to your calorie goal on a day when you are biologically more likely to be burning more calories. For many women, increasing their calorie goal for a few days a month will increase long term adherence to weight loss efforts.0 -
