Primarily a runner

Normally when I go to the gym I primarily use the treadmill and about 10minutes of the elliptical (its all I can bare). About two weeks ago I fell down two of the steps on my stairs and cracked my toe (I believe its sprained). It still hurts and I can not run. I been avoiding the gym but I want to get back to it today...Unfortunately I have never been much to use the bikes or any of the other cardio machines. Does anyone have any suggestions for which machine(s) would not aggravate my toe and other than the bike?

get on the bike.... YOu'll be glad you did. You'll use muscles that you didn't think of. The inside of your thighs, and the backs will get a great workout and IDK about you but that's where I'd like to see less of me.

Did you tape your toe? Tape it to the other and then maybe you could still do the ellip.0 -
I like the stepper. Not sure if it would bother your toe.
If I were you I'd do squats with weights. Lunges.Do some core exercises with the medicine ball. You could even do girl push ups and some upper body machines. I do this when I feel like I need more than just running. It works up a REALLY good sweat. Especially if you do it quickly. I usually do 3 sets of 15. And 3 groups of 3 different exercises. Example: Squats, situps, push up repeated 3 times. That would be 1 of 3. Hope that makes sense. HTH's. Take care of that toe. Feel better

My toes are weird to begin with. I see no point to taping the toe because my toes are pretty much stuck (shaped) together... I am going to try thr elliptical today and try to keep my feet planted down so I don't bend it.
As for the bike. It's more of an enemy than the elliptical. I so know it works muscles I don't normally use because I am in agony after 5minutes. Going to need to work my way up between the two.0 -
you need to ice that toe two or three times a day for 20 minutes at a time. It will heal much much faster.0
