I am at this time serious about a healthier me. I am went too far with laziness and lack of paying attention.
That being said I dont want to even lose enough weight to be in the healthy range. My max weight should be about 145 last I checked and though it has been years I remember that weight. I did not and when I see pics still do not like the me in photographs from then. My MAX personal loss will put me around 160-165. Am I really abnormal for wanting a goal that is still considered overweight? I want healthier not a mini me... I want comfort again and a certain size in clothing...
Anyone else feel this way or am I sabotaging myself???

I think you shoud go for a weight that YOU feel happy with.
BMI is a rediculous system that doesnt meet with a lot of non-average people. So I never base my weight on that, neither to most athletes, boxers, shorter or taller people.
Be happy in your own skin, is what I say :bigsmile:

It is possible to be on the "larger" side & still healthy....as long as you're watching what you eat Good luck!0

When I first started this journey I was the same way, I only wanted to lose 60lbs, then I decided 80 would be great. Well now I want to get down 100lbs which will actuallyput me in my healthy range. I think admitting I wanted to lose 100lbs was just more then I could say even to myself, now I look at it as only having to lose 70 because I'm already 30 down!
I don't think there is anything wrong with any goal you want to set but realize that as you continue on this journey it may change :-)0 -
I think it's fine. You have to be happy in it and if you aren't why would you work so hard for it.

my goal is 160 because that is where i remember feeling comfortable.0

I am in the exact same place, my goal is still considered 20 lbs over weight. My plan is to get there (since I have a lot of really cute clothes for that weight), see how things go with maintaining, and then see how I feel about being that weight. If after a while I feel I should keep going forward, then I will.
Talk to your doctor and see what the best plan for YOU is, these markers for healthy weight and over weight are a generalization for everyone, some of us will be over some under.

Hey I checked your profile page, and I'd like to point out that ANY weight loss - no matter how much - can be beneficial to someone who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure. I suffer from both of these myself, and I also know that I'll never see a "150 lb Amanda" so I've set my goals at reaching 180, and then reassessing at that point in time.
When you reach 160 - 170 I can PROMISE you that you will feel a million times better, and a million times less fatigued. Go with what you are happy and comfortable with, don't let a mathematical equation deter you.

I know what you mean, I dont want to be "skinny" just healthy. Whatever you decide is good for you works0

These are some things to think about... My mini goal is 30lbs... Want to review when I get there. May go for another 30 then. I can say that even my Dr has said it is not about what some printout sheet says and that even a drop in 20ibs may be of help in my case. And just wants me a lil less far from the guidelines... I don't think you should place a Numerical weight on your goals. especially since you are completely happy with being at a higher ended bmi. (that is fantastic that you are not obsessed with hollywoods view of perfect)
anways I think that as soon as you have healthy cholesterol levels and your doctor can give you a clean bill of health, and your waist size is down to a healthy measurement, then you have done a good job. Weight is just a number and peopel get soo obsessed with being 125 pounds or 140 pounds or whatever.
As long as you are perfectly healthy and active, then what does it matter?
I commend you for just wanting to get healthy and not become a twig with no muscle.0 -
I personally have not set a ultimate goal for myself. Taking it in steps, 10 lbs at a time. That total number is to large for me to even think about. So every time a lose 10 lbs, I think to myself "what's next". Usually the answer is "another ten". I plan on doing that till I am happy with my weight, regardless of where my weight falls.0

Your not sabotaging yourself at all. You want a healthier you and that should be your first priority! It's take a lot of will power to admit what you want. Just always remember that you have to do this for yourself and no one else! Feel free to add me for support! Best of luck to you!0

Go with your gut. When you get there you might find you want to go farther. I know I am not planning on going as far as the "charts" say I should! I just want to feel good...and if i feel good and it's not the weight someone else says I should be....who cares? We are all different! I have not set a goal for myself yet because I have no idea how I will look or feel. I'll set my goal as I lose weight. I have a long way to go and I don't want to be looking at a big number that might discourage me. As long as I am losing consistently that is good enough for me! Good luck!0

I dont think its odd. My weight for my height is suppose to belike 120. I would love to be 140 , i think i would look odd at 120. Plus i like my curves!! I just want smaller curves LOL0
