Hi I need some serious weight loss help I have a goal to lose 60 pounds by the end of the year. I'm needing some friends that can always check in with me to see how I'm doing, I'm going to make myself a very stricked diet and watch what I eat and how I eat anything. I just got married last month and got a scale and I'm going to start using it to weight my food and log my food everyday. Another problem that is effecting my weight loss with I have a sweet tooth and drink soda and I know if I want to get this 60 pounds gone I need to quit both. Anyway Please feel free to add me as a friend and I will do the same in return I just need some help and ideas for food and snacks.

Hello, sounds great. I added you.

You might want to think about opening up your food diary so we can help you. First thing a first if you love sweets and soda. Don't eliminate all at once. Pick two things you'll eat that day -log it ahead of time so you can incorporate your other calories around it and not go over your calorie amount.

It's great that you want to lose weight. Unless you are extremely overweight, losing 60 pounds in the next 8 months is iffy. I would encourage you not to put your weight loss on a time line. Even doing everything "right" doesn't guarantee that your weight loss will happen on schedule.

You do not need to be excessively strict or cut out candy or pop entirely. If you need to cut out sweets for awhile that's fine but moderation is the key to long term success.

Was just about to post what Jemh has already posted. Set yourself a realistic goal 1lb a week is manageable as a rule of thumb, but 60 in 8 months will be pushing it. As you dont seem like an experienced dieter, then its likely you dont realise the task you are setting yourself. Go for slow steady losses that you cna keep off.

Scrap what looks like a self imposed deadline imo. Weighing your food is a good start.

What happens at the end of the year?

I seriously doubt you put on 60 pounds in eight months. It's not going to come off in eight months.

For fizzy drinks (pop) why not try zero or diet versions that have barely any energy etc. that way you can still have some every now and then with out it being a larger part of you energy for the day.

Lollies (candy) I wouldn't eliminate entirely if you have a sweet tooth. Limit it, record them etc

I think for most the first step to failure is being too strict. Eliminating a favourite food, going into withdrawals or cravings, then snapping and falling off the entire diet wagon.

Not sure what your preferred lolly is but maybe try something harder, something you need to suck on for a while so your not munching your way through a family bag of mnms.

Also I would think 30 pounds is a more realistic goal if 60 is all you have to lose. 1 pound a week for 30 week.

congrats on beginning your journey! Change in small steps that seem doable. For me its not eating 2 hrs before I go to bed, staying hydrated, take vitamins, and move every day. Things that do make a difference and seem easy to do.

I also have a sweet tooth. I buy the premade chocolate chip cookie dough and only bake 2 cookies at a time so I won't over eat. Prepackaged snacks that are under 120 calories can also prevent you from over indulging. Too strict of a diet probably won't last. Be realistic. Slow and steady wins the race. Good luck!

The beautiful thing about this site is that it allows you to incorporate the foods you normally eat. Set your goals so you have a reasonable calorie limit. 1200 calories may work for some, but it is hard to sustain. Been there, done that, learned my lesson. Don't worry so much about the big picture, set smaller goals along the way. Take it in 10 lb increments, or whatever works for you.

I have never been a big soda drinker, but i did find some flavored carbonated water last time i went grocery shopping. It tastes pretty good, 0 calories, and it really does make me feel like I'm drinking soda. I do have a huge sweet tooth though. I set aside a certain amount of calories each day to make sure i can incorporate a treat
